I wonder if we can get Josh Smith. It would take a 3rd team to take on Asik, and we'd probably have to give up Jones, but I think it's worth it. Maybe something like this: Hou: Josh Smith Bos: Omer Asik Det: Jeff Green and Terrence Jones
I like Drummond a lot as well. He is about as untouchable as a guy can be in this this league. He probably is the most untouchable young player (Rookie/Sophomore) outside of Davis and Lillard. We really couldn't get him unless we were willing to give up Howard which obviously isn't happening. If we want a player from Detroit, I think the focus begins with Monroe and ends with Smith (who could probably be had fairly easily at this moment.)
As I have correctly reported and predicted in the past, Morey has had discussions about multiple scenarios involving African American players and can be expected to execute at least one trade involving African American players before the deadline. Count on it.
Now that Asik's back playing, I think we should keep him as a dominant back up slash to spell Howard in foul trouble, but we still need a dead eye 3 point shooter. What about Jodie Meeks? Jodie Meeks for Donatas Motiejunas http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m6voejo
I don't see a big trade happening. We need morey to step up huge and somehow find a back up SG and back up PF without giving up much. The grizzlies scored big with James Johnson. We need that kind of move. I also wouldn't mind having a veteran PF for the playoffs. Don't feel good about going in with just tjones/dmo
I think there are a few names on this list that DM would take - even at their present rate - and especially if he's dishes Asiks or Lins poison pill contract (could rationalize to Les spending the money saved on luxury tax.... I think a Thad Young/Asik swap would be worth making.... If you don't think Morey would do Lin for Wall straight up.... to name a couple....
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=otbphr7 Minny in: Lin and Asik Hou in: Rubio Budinger and Brewer Those backup wings and Rubio leading the second unit with two years on a rookie contract
Incoming: Gortat, Al Harrington, Otto Porter Jr. Outgoing: Asik, D-mo, cash or 2nd rounder. Gortat and Harrington are both expiring contracts. Gortat is used to backing up Dwight and he fills a lot of our needs as a backup center. Someone that can protect the rim, rebound, finish around the hoop, mobile etc. Harrington... I've always been a fan of his game. He's 33 but he brings that veteran leadership/experience and he's the OG stretch 4 we clamor for. He's old I know but I think he has one last good run in him and he can help us tremendously in our run. He'd be hungry for a chance at a ring too. Otto has struggled mightily but I think he still has great potential. Just needs time and a different staff/environment. Why the Wizards do this? They get a young starting center in Asik on a good contract and Asik will finally be happy to have a full time roll again. D-mo has complained about minutes and he's an interesting young prospect for the Wiz and he will get ample opportunity there. Wizards get at least one for sure if not 2 starters for a long time to build around Wall and Beal. I think this is a good deal for us to add depth, make a serious push for a title while adding a young intriguing piece and the best part... If you don't like the deal we get Cap Flexibility and leaves options for moves in the summer since Gortat and Harrington are expirings.
Just saw this... Jeremy Lin Trade Update: L.A Lakers, Chicago Bulls Front-Runners to Get Linsanity Before Feb 20 Deadline http://****************/articles/537925/20140209/lakers-rumors-bulls-rockets.htm No idea regd how reliable this info is. Most probably just hot air. I doubt Chicago would want a PG who is only ranked 26 in the league in the CBS sports ranking charts. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/playerrankings/regularseason/PG
Ahhhh... I do see references to "that" site. Never really knew which site. Seeing that the URL has been asterixed, I am guessing this is it. I first saw the Jeremy to Chicago thing on yardbarker. http://network.yardbarker.com/nba/article_external/jeremy_lin_heading_to_chicago/15746510 Anyways.... was info only.

Interesting idea. I like that Porter's contract isn't guaranteed after next year just in case he continues to look like a space cadet out there. I think this is a move that DM agrees to. As for Washington, I'm not so sure. This move is obviously very reminiscent of the Thomas Robinson trade; a move that was somewhat of an eyebrow raiser across the league. Perhaps even frowned upon (although T-Rob isn't exactly tearing the league up in Portland). Basically, the point I'm making is it was a very unconventional trade. Does that sort of trade happen in back-to-back seasons? I guess with an unconventional GM like DM, anything is possible. We would likely need to sweeten the pot, though. I've had similar thoughts about pursuing recent draft busts and/or under-performing draft picks. Enes Kanter and Marvin Williams (expiring) are two logical targets and seem to be available.
Amare and Shumpert for Asik, Lin, DMo, and Brewer Knicks gain some depth, dump STAT and acquire a young big in DMo Rockets get their wing depth and backup C without giving up Jones. Amare has been showing signs of life lately and believe it or not he expires the same as Lin and Asik. Another option Tyson Chandler and Shumpert for Asik, DMo, and Brewer Asik is younger and cheaper for the Knicks, DMo a young asset. Rockets get their perimeter defender and a veteran defensive big who can share minutes to help mitigate injuries. Would rather keep Asik but this trade makes sense if he really needs to be moved. Chandler also expires same as Lin and Shumpert.
this guy understands basketball and not just player names ! yes thats all we need really, a vet PF that can hit the midrange & set screens would be great, I feel like dmo could maybe be this guy in the 2nd unit if he works on his jumper, but if you could get a vet you do it for playoffs. & and back up 2-3 would be great also. I would love to keep lin & asik if morey could some how find these guys.
Not my original idea, but Lin for Taj Gibson would be the nearly perfect power forward to play next to D12 who could also play 10 minutes at the 5 with fillers to make the trade. That is a very strong frontcourt, especially defensively.
If the Grizz stepping up and signing James Johnson was huge than Morey signing Troy Daniels after the trade deadline should be just as huge for you guys that are wanting a backup shooting guard.
