No - the thread title is 'Reggie Jackson or Patrick Beverley' So it most naturally reads as 'who is better' - especially without any explanation given. I'm personally not convinced that Beverley is a better defender than Jackson. The offensive side goes without saying.
Reggie Jackson by a mile. Not even close. He can play D, his defensive intensity is good, but the OKC needs him to fill the WB role and attack the basket as part of their offensive schemes so he exert a lot of energy on offense. Even with WB's return looming, I'm still holding onto Reggie with hopes that he'll get traded to a pg depleted team.
Sorry, it was sarcasm playing on the Beverley-Lin debate. I too think that Reggie Jackson is clearly the better player. I like Beverley a lot. But I think Clutchfans overrates him because he fits well with the Rockets and perhaps also because of the anti-LOF sentiment.
The guy that absolutely killed us in the playoffs last year. And, no, I'm not talking about Jeremy Lin.
This comment sums it up pretty well. Jackson isn't a good defender. In fact, he was rather woeful during the beginning of his fill in for Westbrook, and although I haven't watched many OKC games since, I doubt it's changed a great deal. The Rockets, with the current make-up of this team, need Beverley's defense.
OKC didn't find Durant...Seattle did, but even Seattle or OKC has to thank Portland for that. If Seattle had the #1 pick, they would have taken Oden and Durant would be at Portland. But overall OKC has drafted very good. San Antonio and OKC are probably the best at drafting and managing players.
I hope some GM overvalues Jackson as much in the offseason if 2015 as people who think it's not even close - Bev is better in the D & 3's role the Rockets need him to fill. I guess Jackson is a better scorer/driver, but not really elite by any means.
Reggie Jackson is the better player and it isn't up for debate. He has the same rugged mentality that Beverley has.
I prefer Beverly because he gives you toughness every night. And Reggie Jackson won't give you high scoring every night.
