Wrong. It is important to note that he said these things during his exit interview. In other words, he had already been fired.
even that little tidbit about wade doesnt sound like deep "football based rationale." its still sounds like the typical manzealot speak. just watch him play, he can make plays that most qbs cant. blah blah.. still havent heard a valid argument about why he should be the first pick. i thought the best review of his game was by nfl comparison and when they said he can actually go through his progressions, the clips they showed he had about 4 seconds behind that oline and still took off running..
You mean the coaching career where he has coached in the NFL since 1985 with only one season where he didn't have an NFL job (2001)? Yeah...sounds like a career spanning 28 years with only one year he was out of the NFL is really doomed. LOfreakingL
At this point, it will probably be either Bortles or Manziel. I am guessing it will be Bortles followed by quite a few season ticket cancellations.
I highly doubt it will be a QB at all. I think we're looking at it either being Clowney or a trade down. If O'Brien was going to deviate from the Belichick acolyte pattern, he wouldn't have brought in Crennel.
Reports are rampant this week that BOB wants Bortles and McNair wants Johnny. I have seen no credible media reports based on anything inside the Texans front office indicating that they are interested in Bridgewater. Clowney on the other hand, is a different story. However, I think they ultimately go QB with the pick.
There will be some vehement disagreements whether it's Manziel, Bridgewater, Clowney, or trades. That said, I think picking Bortles will be a deal breaker for more fans than all of the other choices combined. It just can't be Bortles...I'd be in disbelief and lose all of the good will I've built up bc of the B.O.B. hire.
John McClain says otherwise. I usually take him with a grain of salt, but he does have access to the team that none of us have.
The only qb thats worth 1-1 is Bridgewater, if they aren't interested in him, it will indeed be Clowney The Jags apparently have Bridgewater as their only 1st round qb on their draft board
I'd MUCH rather have Clowney, Watt, and a new NT facing Bridgewater twice a year than have Bridgewater and have to face Clowney twice a year. I'd be worried even if he was as awesome as some think that he'd get broken by Clowney.
I think it's in the Texans best interest to keep the other teams guessing who they may be most interested in. Maybe some team will offer a kings ransom to move up a few spots.
By the current media patterns Bridgewater is probably not even being considered when there has been hardly no word about him coming out of the Texans camp. So it's very premature to proclaim it's only between Clowney and Teddy.
I would agree that IF there is any QB being considered for the pick at all, it's too soon to say which one it is. The combine will answer a lot of questions IMO.
I would agree, unfortunately our secondary is paltry and will no doubt be carved up like thanksgiving turkey. Jags will use a lot of timing routes and quick stuff to beat the rush, our secondary needs serious work to handle that
