http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m4mhhwq Hou: Lin, Asik, DMo Mil: Ilyasova, Pachulia, Knight, Wolters, and 2nd round pick Mil gets: a younger center, and will be able to better utilize Lin. Hou gets: Back up center (bruiser), stretch 4, streaky shooter Brandon Knight, and RGV player Wolters. Plus a solid second round pick.
Not to be too critical because I'm not bringing anything to the table myself but, Asik was one of a handful of players last season who averaged a double-double. His stats while great can be misleading, hiding the fact that he is ELITE. The difference is like Iverson who gambled on every pass and was 1st in the league in steals or someone like Hakeem, who got his steals without gambling. Seriously, James Harden was an elite ball thief last year while playing matador defense. BIsmack Biyombo? Trevor Ariza? We got a season and a half to make a go for it before players like Parsons, Beverly, possibly Lin, Asik, Brooks, and Greg Smith get raises. Does Biyombo and Ariz help us short term or long? NO. I'd rather dare Asik to sit the playoffs.
Good post. Rep given. I was ok at getting any decent backup center and Ariza for Asik when he wasn't playing. Asik has shown he is fit enough for now to play very good defense in limited minutes. Morey should try to get more for him in a trade, if he doesn't want to stay in Houston.
Going by your logic we should keep Asik forever because he should not play against Dwight,If the price is right Morey would trade Asik to any team, does not matter if it is OKC or another team in the west.
right now in our system. Asik as back up center > chandler backup center Lin as 6th man > hardaway jr as 6th man
The way the Rockets are playing, there's hardly a real need to make a major trade. If I were GM Morey(and I am not), and needed to make a trade, I'd think the team needs a enforcer kind of guy. From the highlights of the Denver at Detroit game, I saw that this Andre Drummond looks pretty darn good. He's got size, can block, rebound the ball, and of course score. I wouldn't trade Lin/Jones/Parsons/Beverly/DMo.
Totally agree with you. The only question that we can't answer is the Asik dilemma. If he is ready to play as a backup center, the Rockets are a serious title contender. If he wants out, the Rockets need a good backup center instead. It is difficult to trade a center against a center (not only salarywise). Therefore, if Asik is traded, I'm afraid it will involve other players as well. Lin is an intelligent guy. He wanted to start, but didn't get it. So he comes from the bench and plays very well. Not only is it very significant for the team, but he has done a tremendeous service for himself.
If the rockets win these next 2 games before allstar break we will be the talk of the week. Media etc pays attention to teams that are playing at a high level around his time & rockets have the highest streak going in NBA now at 5. Morey will have a lot of thinking to do before he trades a player from our core.
Trade Asik for Gordon straight up Greg Smith can fill the void up front and Gordon will solidify our second unit scoring
i'd love to get green but he got a player option (arrrgh) for the 2015/16 season (9M$) so i dont think it will happen ...
I like Jeff green even better then Eric Gordon... Even with the player option Asik for him straight up I am all in Green and Lin off the bench will do some damage 8 man rotation will be Howard Jones Parsons Harden Beverley Lin Green DMO or G smith
I am always surprised by how many Rockets fans fail to realize that Daryl Morey's front office is looking for VALUE, or bang for your buck. Eric Gordon, at his price, is a horrible value; thus, 0% chance Houston trades for him. Same thing goes for other names that seem to pop up a lot, like Jeff Green. Here is a pretty complete list of poor value contracts. Morey will not be trading for any player on this list. In alphabetical order: Joel Anthony Andrea Bargnani JJ Barea Carlos Boozer Kobe Bryant Chase Budinger Wilson Chandler Jamal Crawford Glen Davis DeMar DeRozan Jared Dudley Monta Ellis Tyreke Evans Raymond Felton Landry Fields Channing Frye Kevin Garnett Rudy Gay Taj Gibson Eric Gordon Jeff Green Brendan Haywood Nene Hilario Ersan Ilyasova Jarrett Jack Al Jefferson Brandon Jennings Joe Johnson Carl Landry Courtney Lee David Lee Kevin Martin Ian Mahinmi OJ Mayo Luck Richard Mbah a Moute Javale McGee Steve Nash Gary Neal Zaza Pachulia Nikola Pekovic Kendrick Perkins Tayshaun Prince Anthony Randolph Zach Randolph Jason Richardson Thomas Robinson Derrick Rose Larry Sanders Luis Scola Josh Smith Marreese Speights Amare Stoudemire Jason Terry Jason Thompson Marcus Thornton John Wall Gerald Wallace Louis Williams Thaddeus Young
so you're saying there is no way morey would want to trade for any player on this list ? that could be fun
Doesnt Chandler make more $$$ than Asik? And I think it's debatable if Chander > Asik. I'd keep Asik if Asik was still willing to play for us. The bench is vastly improved with him on it. Vastly. And it'd keep the starters minutes to be more reasonable.
