Great ending........love that the Thunder LOST. The long rebound was like an outlet pass starting a fast break. The extra pass for the dunk - NOICE My gold nugget: LOL on the slo-mo replay - Thunder fan in a Durant 35 Jrz with his mouth wide-azz open in disbelief as Harris dunked the ball for the WIN!!! His number 35 Durant jersey quit on the play LOL. 2 seconds later after this frame below - dude wearing Durant Jersey was like NOOOOOO! Loved to see Portland lose tonight too!
Lol Durant getting ready to seal the deal. Instead, he missed and they get a game winning dunk. What a backfire and turn of events.
I agree with those who say the pass was too risky and unnecessary. Harkless had a wide open layup himself. Why pass when the clock is expiring?
Totally. Play to the whistle. Easy to forget the tiny things at that level, when 99/100 times, the team that gained possession would have called a timeout there.
crazy play. durant really does just stand there expecting a timeout. so what's the rule on when the clock stops on a made basket? is it when the ball clears the bottom of the net? should okc have had a tenth of a second left?
We run that play very often. It's yet to work. Only thing that's come of it is a desperate pass to Bev whose 5 feet from the inbounder, and he heaves it, or just a reset possession with a Harden iso.
He could have been expecting the ball to explode in mid air, for all i know, but either way, it's quitting ont he play. In that situation, you've got to keep playing until youre sure play stopped.
A player of Durante quality who has preformed so high recently doesn't just quit when he misses a shot, their is no way he 'quit', you could say he made a bad decision in just expecting a timeout but that doesn't mean he quit and didn't care
He quit on the play.. No if, ands, or buts about it. Play until the whistle. And that pass to Harris was necessary.
Not all layups are created equal though. He'd need to gather himself (giving time for the defense to adjust) and lay it in from the side, and when a player is rushing that's actually a shot that misses more than you'd think. Giving it to a guy who's momentum is carrying himself in a straight line to the basket for a clear dunk is a higher percentage play. Granted, time is a factor which probably makes it a toss-up as to which is "smarter".
Disturbingly funny thing about this is i could see Harden doing the same thing, not running back on defense, after taking a similar shot.
