Yep... I think it is good for everyone. More mature players from a game and life standpoint. College game gets to keep star power a bit longer.
I think it's a good idea, build the D-League into a reputable minor league system, and maybe even broadcast some games.
it's stupid, if someone is ready to play at 18, let him play, there r many good examples in the league of high schoolers who r future HoF (Garnett, Lebron, Kobe, McGrady, Dwight, etc ...). the % of busts is not higher for high schoolers imo, and even since they forced the players to go 1 year in college there have still been busts, i dont want any limitation, bring back the high schoolers
this is all about $, and keeping teams from having to pay for empty development years when they have college teams to groom the talent for free
It sounds like an okay idea at first, but raising the minimum age to 20 would make a lot of records untouchable.
They need to do this. I'm so tired of NBA teams drafting 19 year old kids and paying them millions of dollars while they're garbage, only to trade them and have them develop for another team 3 years later. It's just silly, they should just make everyone go to college at least 2 years. Yeah, there's dudes who can come straight out of high school, (see: Lebron) but honestly how many of them have an impact immediately?
Reducing the lifetime pay of players in order to protect ownership from risk. Also encouraging players to spend more time in an amateur system where the service their given in return for playing has dramatically less monetary value than their playing does.
i can understand an age limit in nfl, they have to be stronger to play w/ pros but in nba it's totally unnecessary, u have the talent, u play, period
For everyone of your good examples, there are twice as many high school players that should have gone to school to mature themselves or their game. Namely; Kwame, JR Smith, CJ Miles, Sebastian Telfair, Andrew Bynum, Gerald Green, the list can go on and on. Some of these guys did turn into solid to very good players but even then it took them years to get up to shape. Players like TMac, Lebron, Dwight, Kobe and KG were already physically gifted to hang with the big boys coming out of high school. They are once in a generation players.
