Console Wars Thread! PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U Fight!

Sony gave out their financials, but they didn't give specific shipped numbers for PS4. They tend to consolidate their numbers between platforms, so we only know they shipped 7.8M PS3s + PS4s in the quarter. Sony sold more than 4.2M, so it is more than that, but not sure how much more. For reference, MS sold ~3M and shipped 3.9M. Xbox One consoles. On a side-note, Sony isn't doing so well outside of the gaming division (and a few others). Gaming is becoming a pretty big deal for the company.

Amazon bought Double Helix, who were the devs behind Killer Instinct (and a few other games). MS will be working with another partner on the IP (cue joke about how Quantum Break was just a concept, and Remedy will work with KI). Amazon is getting kind of crazy.

MGS:GZ looks better on PS4 apparently. Shock and awe.

 

for those who actually care about the company as a whole, they dumped off their pc business and spun off the tv line.

Haha, Kojima is actually going to put out a trailer that shows the differences between the different versions of Ground Zeroes (PS3 and 360 included). Surprised he will even bother, but yeah, that will probably be fun.

Oh yeah, and the 360 version of Titanfall was delayed a couple of weeks. The Internet wants to speculate about whether MS was involved in that decision, but yeah, guess this means good things for XB1 sales.

 

I do not understand Kojima why make a video about it and tell people "you’ll definitely understand the differences when you play the game" if the PS4 version just looks "slightly better"?

 

Kojima will probably troll everyone by just showing a current-gen vs next-gen comparison.

 

I've been a pc gamer for the past 3 years, decided to buy a ps4 a few weeks ago. Impressions so far:

-Sucks to have to pay so much for games.
-Like the idea of Day 1 digital downloads, wish you could get the download included with the purchase of actual disks, but see the problem it would create with used game sales.
-Not many games out there that I already don't own on PC, for some reason I thought there would be more games at launch.
-NBA 2k14 on ps4 looks so much better than the pc version which is obviously last gen.
-Hope that with all this power developers might start being able to push pc even further.

Ultimately, Killzone and NBA 2k14 have kept me busy this week, I was hoping for more variety. I bought the PS$ after constantly hearing how much more powerful it was than the Xbox One, but now I'm feeling a little envious about not being able to play games like Dead Rising or Ryse. Hopefully that will change in the near future with releases of games like Infamous, or I might have to also buy the Xbox One.

 

I noticed the Lara Croft game came out on Xbox One. Is that one any good? I was thinking about making Dead Rising my next game....but we are so close to Titanfall at this point that I may just wait and get that.

 

I do realize "fanboy" is a popular word used by young posters. I myself is too old to use that word but from what I understand it refers to young people who loves everything about a particular product and would attempt to defend it even if it is against facts, and would love to use the words such as "A Sucks.......B rules" and etc. Therefore I myself do not qualify.


That being said, I do prefer 1080p/60fps over 720p/30fps.

 

I know I would have considered buying an xbone if it was not a weaker hardware with a higher prize (ms do do a great job finding games perfectly fit their users tastes though).

In fact I would have just stick to PC if wasn't for games like Metal Gear Solid 5, Final Fantasy 15, Uncharted 4 and The Last Of Us 2 and etc which I simply have to get.

 

Most of the time the use of the term "fanboy" is being said by someone who doesn't have the wherewithal to invest the time or effort to offer a valid counter-argument. It is a lot easier to say, "Oh, yeah? Well you're a fanboy!" than to actually make an insightful and eloquent retort while providing facts and sources to back your claims.

Fanboy is the interweb's version of Cartman's "screw you guys, I'm going home."

 

I'm not so sure about that: it is almost as often used to describe a person who has repeatedly been given reasons why the other side is superior and has then proceeded to completely ignore them, and/or given dumb/invalid counter-arguments. And in this case said person is, indeed, a fanboy.

 

So the best way to battle them is to throw out the easiest retort? I prefer to further prove them wrong... and even though they may not openly admit that their views have been crushed, they die a little inside when sitting alone at home. My time is not done until they are in a ball weeping, and exclaiming "I'm a fraud" over and over.

For the only way to destroy a true fan boy, is from within.

 

Is their any fighting games besides Killer Instinct for either system?

 

Xbox One has KI and KI: Classic. EA: UFC in Spring and Ubisoft's Divekick TBA, both are cross-platform.

 

Yeah if a game is available on PC I'm getting it over the ps4 version. Really hoping for past ps3 games to become available via streaming or download because I feel I missed out by never getting the ps3.

I agree. What I'm saying is that rational argument only goes so far before some people dig their heels in and refuse to entertain the idea that the other side might be right (and some people never intend to have an even-handed discussion in the first place). That goes for most anything -- politics, religion, and even one's choice of video game consoles. And when it becomes clear that the other side has no intention of discussing rationally, and/or you're just repeating the same points that the other side refuses to acknowledge over and over, it's time to apply the appropriate label. It's not about attacking the other side out of laziness or insecurity (presumably that's what they're doing), it's about calling them out for not conceding their opponent's strengths, not admitting their own position's weaknesses, and generally showing no interest in any point of view other than their own.

Yes, there's no good reason to ever jump straight to ad hominem. But at some point you have to call a fanboy what it is. As they say, "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it's probably a duck." And just as I call a duck a duck, I call a fanboy a fanboy.

 

You can play that on ps3 or xbox360 . I doubt it's that much better on next gen

 

You should wait. The next installment of games should be better and less buggy. 2k15 and black ops should be great. I don't care for the ps4 or xb1 exclusives now or in the future. Some people enjoy those games, but not me.

As for the fighting games, they just don't make them like they used to. There isn't even a good boxing game, but I do hope ea will make a come back with fight night and actually make a good game. The FN games were the last good games to come from them after live 2005. I don't think it will be out until 2015 though. You should just buy the capcom collection on steam and use your xbox controller. I still prefer sf2 and marvel vs capcom 2 to this day and dont care for graphics when it comes to 2d fighting games.
