CVS bans sell of cigarettes, will others follow?

Four (or five or six) different purchases instead of one, huh? Cool.

Lol. Do you pay my bills? Do you pay my insurance? I smoke because I choose too.

I have my reasons for starting, none of which you are entitled to. I now smoke, because I enjoy a smoke once in a while.

This is not about CVS looking down on smokers unhealthy habits. This is about CVS Caremark getting more tightly wound into the healthcare and insurance system.

 

The CVS by my place is still selling cigarrettes. Besides, I'm seeing opportunity here! Perhaps its actually time to open the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms store. Makes perfect sense!!!

You got too much smoke in your eyes. I didn't say it was about littering. I said that's what I hate most about smokers.

 

Yep. It's 1% of their revenues, probably even less of their profits, and its likely declining over time with the direction smoking has been taking in the country. This frees up shelf space for other products, and gets them all sorts of positive publicity - not to mention the health care links you mention. This is a good business decision couched in great free PR.

 

Well to be fair 2/3 of your purchases won't function for the purpose stated.

 

LOLing at the conservative reaction to this news. Do they really think CVS is doing this for PC reasons, rather than branding and long term strategic positioning in healthcare delivery. For as much as the wingnuts like, Commodore, tongue bathe capitalism and corporations, they sure don't seem to understand them very well.

 

Nope. Not all smokers litter. Believe it or not, some smokers use smokeless ash trays, trash can toppers, or cigarette traps. Not always, but every chance I can. Maybe I should rethink that and just toss them where I finish them. Smokers are the devil anyway. Why not play the part. Easier for me.

 

Agreed. Honestly, what they chose to do in their business plan should be completely up to them. I couldnt care less if they stop selling smokes. I'll just go somewhere else to buy them. Simple.

You know what I hate most about non smokers? Nothing. I'm sure there are plenty of non smokers that litter as well, but I don't throw stones.
