If you read where I said "with the development of TJ and Howard's post game coming along" _ by that I mean they can make up for Parsons offense. Parsons doesn't have to be a Pippen, but he can be a lock down defender... That is if he's capable.
I dont think morey would trade jones unless a star is coming back or 2 impact players. I was just thinking about that draft, imagine if morey wouldve took sullinger with that pick instead of white, or even dmo. Sullinger got picked after white, jones, and dmo. Sullinger and jones wouldve been a beast at that PF spot. He rebounds with the best in the league and has midrange and a 3. Good enough rebounder to play spot C mins also.
Are Howard and Jones going to magically turn into ball handlers that can also shoot 40% from 3? I don't think you realize how few SF's shoot as well as Parsons and do the other things he does. You brought up the name of Paul George (who by the way doesn't shoot 50/40), one of the top 4-10 players in the NBA..... if HE is all you can come up with, then the Rockets certainly should keep Parsons over Jones.
Let's not bring P.George in this conversation ... BUT PG CP PG 22.7 17.2 Rebs 6.4 5.6 Asts 3.4 3.6 FG% 44.7 50.1 3FG%36.9 40.1 TS 57.1 59.8 Better...
What are you talking about? DMO was not even in that draft. He was in the draft earlier. The Rockets had 3 picks in the 2012 draft and picked Lamb at 12, White at 16 and TJ at 18. DMO has nothing to do with the 2012 draft.
George isn't on the floor with Harden and Howard either which makes it easier for Parsons to score because teams don't have to double him like they do George. So you just made an F'd up comparison. But most "Box Score" watchers do
Riiight and Jones gets to play on the court with Harden/Parsons and most importantly Howard. Jones has come a long way, but even considering contract situations, Parsons is far better than Jones and more difficult to replace.
mannn calm down.. made a mistake on dmo, sullinger was the 21st pick in the 2012 draft, just was thinking out loud that he wouldve been a nice pick.
We got enough darn ball handlers. And TJ probably has better handles than Parsons since you brought it up. And hopefully "IF" they replaced Parsons it would be with a catch and shoot wing defender. But I didn't say it would happen _ I just said Morey would ship off Parsons before he would trade Jones and all the Parsons fan boys are falling out...
Ok, Paul George is a superstar same old, same old ... warriors are contender etc... YOU brought the (numbers) comparison between Parsons and George and believe me i watch enough NBA games before i judge a player. I stop it now because this thread isn't about Parsons or George.
As long as Morey has been trying to find a power forward you think Jones is easier to replace than Parsons... Gotcha.
#1 Parsons has better handles than Jones... although Jones has good handles for a 4. #2 I don't think that Morey would deal Parsons before Jones UNLESS he knew he had to include Parsons and was getting a player he covets more. #3 Also in the Rockets system they want as many shooters and ball handlers on the floor as possible. Parsons needs to improve his defense, along with everyone else in the starting line up not named Howard or Beverley. As far as Jones goes as a defender, he is a mixed bag. He is often out of position and does not switch well. He probably WILL be a good defender, as he is still learning but right now he has some issues defensively.
I didn't bring up a numbers comparison between Parsons and George _ you did... And if you watch enough NBA games you wouldn't have wasted time posting and comparing Parsons and George numbers...Lol..
Parson's is a + defender and can turn it on at times to be even better. He is with out a doubt a two way player. His offense is not easily replaced even if all you are looking at are the numbers. If you think so then you are clearly smoking crack. If you look past the numbers and the way Parsons moves with out the ball and how he moves the ball, he is one of the primary reasons that the offense works as smooth as it does. That is a reason that is not easily measured and harder to replace.
Me too. It remains to be seen. The Heat attempt an offensive philosophy that isn't that different and have had success.... but then again they have the best player on the planet.
They way they play now _ jacking up a bunch of 3's or driving to the basket... I agree. If they ever want to make Howard the center piece of the offense (if he develops a post game) _ Parsons is replaceable.
