I think he was referencing last nights game (which that picture is from) in which the Cavs lost to a Lakers team that dressed 6 players.

This move means nothing without changing the Coach. Brown caoched against a team with 5 healthy players by the end of the game.

Mike Brown had his status elevated by Lebron James...should donate part of his money earned to Lebron since he left.

But the idea isn't ridiculous. Jones and Parsons are difference makers despite being young. Other than Irving, would any GM take Waiters, Thompson, or Bennett over Parsons or Jones?

Despite worshipping of Morey on this board, Rockets fans still take a lot of things for granted that any GM's simply suppose to do. For example, the GM is suppose to have a system that develops players. It's clear that the Rockets have developed far more players over the past 3 years than the Cavs, despite lesser picks. A GM is suppose to keep his star(s) and key players happy. Well, Harden and Howard are happy here, while Irving has basically checked out of the season.

IMO, even if the Rockets had drafted Irving, Thompson, Waiters, and Bennett, I bet you they'd be better players on the Rockets than they are on the Cavs.

LOL you can't really blame Gilbert for the dreck that is the Cavs. He's not Cuban, but the guy hasn't exactly been Donald Sterling and even bent over backwards for LBJ previously (giving his homeboys jobs etc) just so LBJ will stay a Cav. IMHO he's just an average owner, who has horrible GM picking abilities.

Chris Grant...I'm pretty sure I would have done a much better job than that dude. The problem with him is his drafting's so bad if you just got the mock drafts the past 4 years and drafted those guys he'd still have a much superior team. Sometimes you have guys like Mchale picking Tsikishvili or Joe Dumars picking Darko Milicic over Wade/Bosh/Melo, however in those cases you the GMs were blinded by potential they thought they saw in a prospect. In this case you have the GM picking the clearly WORSE player for no apparent explanation, what's the justification for Tyrus Thomas over Valanciunas? You can find undersized PFs anywhere in the league, guys like Landry have signed contracts as low as 4M a year (even cheaper than a top 5 salary), while healthy and young Cs are a commodity. Just because Valanciunas will miss 1 year in a rebuilding season? Ok, what the reason for Waiters over Barnes? Barnes is the "More NBA ready player", he's had better numbers in college and clearly is more athletic and has more potential. If I were Gilbert I would have given Grant a talking to after he picked Thompson and then fired him after he picked Waiters.

Also major LOL@ the dude comparing Morey's misses to Chris Grant. The most Morey missed out was squandering a 14th pick on Morris with Kawhi Leonard, and even then he made up for it with Parsons. That's different from missing out on top 5 picks and taking clearly inferior players for no reason.

Kenny Smith would be a terrible GM. He and Charles are entertaining TV personalities, but they are not exactly brilliant basketball minds.

Sounds like the Cavs still want to win-now and are going to be aggressive at the deadline.

Personally I would think they would really want Asik, given what he could do for their defense (currently 22nd in the league) along with Deng.

    BIMA,

If you get a chance to read this...

Can the Cavs trade Deng if there is a separate transaction? I know he cannot be traded in combination with other players for 2 months.

I would be mildly interested in C.J. Miles. He's become quite a 3 point threat these last two seasons and has good size as a potential "3 and D" type player. Something like:

C.J. Miles and Anderson Varejao (both expirings) for Omer Asik, Donatas, Francisco Garcia?

We get very useful players for this year, while freeing up salary for next year? Cavs get one of the best Centers in the league who will be properly motivated and some young talent in Donatas and veteran leadership in Garcia?

    CLUTCH,

Do you think Asik and Varejao can co-exist? or Do you think Varejao would be traded if the Cavs make a run at Asik?

Yes... they can trade him without combining him with other players.

I'm not sure, but I would think Varejao is probably what gets you to the money for an Asik trade... would seem to make some sense for both parties.

That looks an awful lot like Pau Gasol's salary.
