You have no idea what the hell you are talking about. The company I work for is structured similiarly where the customer and service provider are partners in multiple aspects of the business that all revolve around the healthcare the customer provides to it's patients.
I'm saying your hero had free reign to get it done and only came up with a stupid MLB option and not **** else. For whatever reason, it didn't happen. The Rockets didn't come up with **** either. No one is going to pay the 3.40 per subscriber fee, That is obvious. They could get another equity partner to infuse cash I suppose but that entity would share in equity and have to find a way to increase revenue over the current offer. Maybe they could get Fox to partner to enlarge the footprint but you run in to your point about Fox already charging for those teams and not delivering them. This is a complicated situation that got even more complicated by the bully antics of an industry novice. The best thing that can happen is for the Astros and possibly the Rockets to get bought out making a profit and let Comcast run a business that they already know how to run And good luck for ever finding an RSN who will let Crane hold the company hostage with a unanimous vote requirement.
I thought it was "obvious" to anyone who "understands the situation" that the money is not out there (your words)... and now you're saying "for whatever reasons, it didn't happen." What is it? Also, Comcast is the one that couldn't make anything happen as being the lead negotiator for the majority of this ordeal... except get a bare-bones offer that the judge agreed was awful. Yes, surprisingly neither sports team could get anything done as what carrier wants anything to do with a dying channel. And now you say they should be able to run a business they already know how to run... which is exactly why the Astros and Rockets went with them in the first place, only to see Comcast have to declare bankruptcy due to a business model they proposed.
LOL! Comcast sent a business they know how to run into bankruptcy because they created inaccurate projections and joined a business arrangement that only worked if those projections were correct. The Rockets and the Astros share the blame for joining a business venture that depended on meeting projections that were unable to be attained by Comcast. I do agree with the general notion that it would be best for one party to control the business. I just don't agree that any of the three have shown to be capable of running a regional network in Houston after joining CSN-H.
You are just arguing to argue. I meant that there are a multitude of reasons the money isn't out there and that should be obvious to anyone. Jim Crane even said Comcast was wary of going for 3.40 a subscriber and thats why the MFN was inserted in the contract.
Comcast knows how to run an RSN, you know that. The Rockets and Astros begged to lead with those rates after being advised by Comcast not to. Th Rockets came to their senses. Jim Crane shifted in to operation jackass.
Not really obvious to me. Tell me what the multitude of "obvious" reasons are that the city of Houston is unable to have a profitable RSN that benefits the team at the level of Dallas' or Seattle's situations? Or is at the level of Pittsburgh or Washington DC's RSN's?
A lot of things are not obvious to you like me asking you the question of what changed to make providers pay $3.40 per subscriber. Quit playing stupid games. The biggest reason is that carriers haven't lost enough subscribers over this to warrant caving in. The bluff was called and the carriers lost very little business over this. Houston is likely seen as an apathetic sports town.
Comcast was not forced to join CSN-H. CSN-H failed in a model that Comcast freely joined. It is not Crane's fault Comcast choose business partners who look out for their own best interests. Crane's fault is joining a failed network run by Comcast that Comcast put together with Les and McLane that gave him veto power. Comcast is so good at running CSN-H that they asked a judge to put someone else in charge of it last year....it is that pesky having to pay invoices that is the hold up. Unlike you, I see both Comcast and Crane operating in their own interests. I don't see CSN-H working with those two as business partners. Comcast filing for involuntary bankruptcy is as bush league as Crane trying to use MLBTV to basically make CSN-H worthless than -100 million dollars.
Dang man, you are really an angry person I just want the Astros to get a quality deal where they can compete financially. And the games on TV. I apologize for trying to debate with you, I'm obviously not qualified. Sorry man
So after all of this, we come to your grand conclusion as to why the Rockets and Astros aren't on TV.
The reason most of us don't take you seriously is because you have a clear bias against Crane. It really appears this is personal to you. I'm not sure why or what he did to you but you seem to have 0 objectivity towards the situation.
Where did I say that? Enough with your stupid games. They aren't on TV because crane refused to accept he wasn't getting pie in the sky money.
Why should I care if you or others take me seriously? There are others here that saw through Cranes BS
If hope that don't you call your weak position and statements followed by personal comments directed at me debating.
They know how to run an RSN so well that they agreed to give veto rights to two nobodies with totally different and competing interests - one of which was for sale to a yet-to-be-determined owner they knew nothing about - while also agreeing to pay what you consider ridiculous rates. They managed to create an organization that was so dysfunctional that it had to be forced before a judge. Comcast's history also speaks so well in how they've run CSN-Portland, still unable to get carriage deals there many years in, despite having no Jim Crane to deal with. Yeah, Comcast is proving very well that they know what they are doing.
They have made mistakes I will agree with that. Unlike you, I can concede a point. But they have had successful RSN's as well. Never said they were perfect here but the biggest factor in the failure here has been Jim Crane.
This is the worst thread I have ever seen on Clutchfans and I have been here since 2002 (New Account). Is everyone who posts in here a lawyer or something? You people need to type in English not double speak. I surprisingly got an A in my one Business Law class in College, unlike my other classes which I sucked. So don't call me stupid unlike you faux lawyers. Just post links to your Lawfirms websites you ambulance chasers.
