Sounds like a determined kid. He could definitely outgrow the position given his size, but there's been a host of "large" modern-day SS's. If the Astros have a better defensive option coming up, then it makes sense to move him to 3B... if they don't, let him be the everyday SS for as long as he can physically do it.

Absolutely no earlier than t2015. If he can get to AA this year, there's an outside chance of a mid-to-late season call up in '15. Based on the pace the Astros go, I wouldn't hold my breath at all until 2016.
I've read a couple of times that they expect him to be at AA Corpus for a good part of the upcoming season. My guess is that you see Correa playing for the Astros sometime in 2015.
I used to never care about MLB, but I've been gaining a lot interest in the Astros over this past season. Newbie question: Why is it considered lofty goal for a #1 pick to make AA? (
It's when he gets there, not if. You don't get to the majors without going through AA, he's is projected to start at High A, and finish in AA. The quicker he gets to AA, the quicker he can get to AAA, and thus the quicker he can get to the bigs.
He's still 19 years old (won't be 20 until Sept). AA as a 19 (or just turned 20) year old is pretty successful.
I do question whether or not he'll need much time at AAA... playing against more has-beens/never will be's vs. up and coming talents. Most top prospects (who aren't being stashed for $$$, and who are tearing up AA) do skip AAA altogether. Manny Machado is a pretty good career arc (went from AA to the majors in his 3rd pro season)... plus another year or so since this team isn't contending as the Orioles were when they called him up.
It is... but not unprecedented that teams promote the truly great ones at a younger age. Hell, its happened in every era... from Ruth/Mantle/Kaline (RIP)... to Yount/Trammel/Gooden... to Griffey/A-Rod/Trout/Harper.
Gotta emphasize this, given the extremely slow promotion rate this club has shown he will get sent to AAA, if he proves himself at AA this year he may start next year in AAA and come up after the arbitration deadline, or they may wait all the way to the super 2 deadline. I really don't think many players need it anymore, AAA has basically become 4-A for MLB failures and the stash spot.
I didn't say it was unprecedented. If we'll get to come back and put him in the category of the players you mentioned, we'll be talking about the greatest Astro of all time and one of the best players of his era (I got chills just thinking that...)
Well, of course I only listed some all-time greats... I'm sure there have been some that came up early that failed (but there's always the question of whether or not they would have failed anyways... or did the early promotion cause the failure). But yeah, I have no problem with rushing up the truly special ones... and don't see a long history of the truly special ones being ruined by early promotion (hence what makes them truly special).
