He wasn't going to be hired no matter who he recommend they pick.

Doesn't matter. Wade still has a reputation to keep up if he wants to get another coaching gig. And by him backing Johnny instead of Clowney is putting his reputation on the line.

Perhaps he simply told McNair what he thought would get him the job?

Funny how people respect Wade's opinion one day (He pushed to get JJ Watt) and now they dismiss his opinion about who to draft now because it's not to their liking.

It's like Fox News up in here.

I'm not concerned with who the guy we didn't hire would pick with the pick he won't get to pick.

I happen to agree with you

Apparently Bridgewater has the only 1st round grade among majority of the NFL teams out there, so it speaks volumes on to the ineptitude of our organization if we draft any qb but Bridgewater

I agree with this in I don't feel Jake Mathews is a top 5 pick. I'm not exactly feeling Watkins either, I don't think he's a sure-fire alpha WR and who really wants a WR that bad when you're picking that early.

When did Wade have time to compare Johnny and the other qbs to give that type of opinion?

Doesn't seem like the type of owner who'd interfere anyway, and surely would never veto the best football decision if that answer was clear, but what if it's a really a near tossup, or there's a difference of opinion among those evaluating what's the best choice?

Because even if I were an otherwise non meddling owner, it wouldn't take a jerry jones not to let marketing/business bottom line etc. tip the scales, if it was truly a close call or an argument among gm, scouts, coaches etc.

Yeah, why was he spending time evaluating qb's and tweetin when he should have been focusing on defense?!

Sometimes you have to go with your gut and for a gutless franchise, it's time to take a risk.

lol he pushed to get JJ?? sounds like some CF/texans talk urban legend. truth is we have no idea who wade wanted, pushed for, or spoke up about. for all we know wade had zero input on who the texans selected.. i would put money on jj being a kubiak/smith pick just like all the other picks.

He said on 610 this morning that he originally wanted Aldon Smith. 9ers took him earlier, so rather than getting the 3rd or 4th best pass-rushing OLB for his 3-4, he recommended they take their highest rated defensive lineman.

Sure sounded like it was his (and his scouts) idea.
