If true, she should have took the $1 million. What's the child support going to be? $20K-$30K per month? But with the majority actually going toward the child (eg private tuition etc)
She's not likely to be able to save any of the child support $$, what's she going to do in 18 years.

Check what math? The present value of this 18 year cash stream (don't forget it's one that is getting smaller significantly over time as the athlete gets older) is practically the same as that of an immediate $1 million lump sum payment when you consider that a significant portion of the child support is directly spend on the child eg private education etc.

The child support payment comes with alot of strings attached. It's not like she's allowed to use this money to go on crazy shopping sprees etc.. Well she can probably get away with this a couple of times, but in the long run that'll get challenged.

 

What's the odds of that happening?

Everybody should watch that ESPN 30 on 30 documentary called Broke, it's absolutely hilarious. It talks about these gold diggers a bit, apparently for them it's like a full time job. They spend countless hours researching what each celeb or athlete likes, where they like to hang out and receive alerts when athletes show up a clubs etc. These women are probably all experts on how to maximize their chances of getting pregnant. I would not be the least bit surprised if they all pop fertility pills on regular basis and carry condoms that they've already poked small inconspicuous holes etc
