I know it's been beat to death, but where are the lower bowl folks?

Those are like the worst seats in the house, tbh. We are talking about sideline, not baseline.

This is not really true. The six best sections on the sidelines are sold out to season tickets holder except the last couple of rows, and those might be sold out this year because of Howard. I'm speaking from last year number.. Don't count on getting any serious discounts from the resellers in the six best sections on a regular basis.

tbh, I think you're spreading misinformation. This is coming from an original Rockets Fan Council member started by the Marketing Director of the Rockets, and a 15+ yr sth who organizing cfnet events with Dave2000...and I'm currently the longest distance traveling sth in the building...living in Colorado.

From what I've heard even the Rockets players are embarrassed to play at TC. How many times have we seen the players signal fans to get up after a great play.

Tell me about. Just the other game Pat Bev signaled the crowd to get loud but I barely heard a difference in cheers lol.

Not to mention the prices. They're stupidly overpriced! Like 1-2 grand per seat for lower level sideline seats. Those damn New Yorkers be makin bank!

I don't like it either, but come on, allowing the upper section people to move down at halftime or whatever is just completely impractical.

We can blame it on Les and corporate people all we want but the Rockets just aren't the hot ticket as of this moment. To real fans like me, I would love to have those seats every game. But to the casual fan like what most corporate people are, the Rockets haven't done anything or isn't a big enough name, i.e the Lakers or Knicks, to get any real excitement. The Lakers and the Knicks are horrible but those games are more like a social event than a sporting event, arenas are full every game.

Once the Rockets' games become more of a social outing for the more casual fans and the "You have to be there if you're anybody" type of games, then we will see the stand full like they were in the good days. We saw it in the playoffs last year when the Rocket's games became the "it" ticket. Stadium was rocking and full, especially in games 4 and 6.

I remember the 22 game win streak. In the early parts of the streak, we had half full stadiums. Then the Rockets became "the big story" and bam, everyone was at their seats at the start of the game, making noise. Everyone had to be there and see the a Rockets now.

It's getting better though, as of late. In close or intense games, the seats are more or less full and the noise levels increase. Still nowhere it should be for a team like this current Rockets team. But once we do something noteworthy; get a big win streak, make the WCF or look to be championship contenders for real, then the stand will continue to look half empty.

It can be fixed... after a couple deep playoff runs.

at the end of the day, it's just not a basketball town. out of every 20 complete strangers i meet, i would say 2-3 of them actually care about the NBA here

basketball should just be exciting to watch.. theres something always going on. you just probably would rather be somewhere else if you can't get involved in some aspect of the game as its going on.

these people are half asleep and when someone dunks they're like "omg yay" and go back to sleep or continuing mundane conversation

Sometimes I do wish Houston only had one team like Golden State or OKC. Those cities just embrace the team without question, which is why they always seem to have the best crowds. I love the Texans and Astros, no matter how disappointing their franchises have been but honestly, the Rockets have been the best franchise, other than the Dynamo, in this city in terms of winning and long term success. It's just so frustrating to see how much of a back seat the Rockets take behind the Texans and in some seasons, the Astros. It takes really disappointing seasons from both the Texans and Astros, for Houston fans to cheer for the Rockets. It feels like Houstonians are taking the Rockets for granted.

I get the TV deal and whatever but only the are Rockets are getting hurt, other than people wanting to see them. The Astros are better left unseen for the next few years and I bet if the Texans had the same problem with TV providers, people would still go to games and whatnot.

It sucks being a diehard Rockets fans that wants this city to get behind the Rockets but are too busy crying about the Texans constantly or wondering what the prospects of the Astros are would look like in a few years. But seriously, you have something of this exact moment that could be very special, why isn't everybody excited about it?!
