Instead of apologizing for taking the trolls seriously, just stop taking them seriously. They prey on your desire to have a real discourse. It's a constant shell game for the clown show, trying to sucker you in so he can use his tired tag lines and declare troll victory. True, fascism is a movement that pays great attention to symbols, among which the flag and cross can be. But it's not a conservative movement. Fascism is basically purple on the left/right scale, given its completely alien values.
