Well, to start, they are virtually the same exact size. They both possess a good arm (although I think Locker's is better). They both are not afraid to scramble if needed, although each looked to pass first, typically. I think Locker was a better scrambler in college, though, to be honest. Bortles probably has a better mind for the game, as evidenced by better stats in college, but one could argue that Locker's dip in stats were because of playing superior competition. Locker was hyped from the get-go, but did not win in college, whereas Bortles has risen from out of nowhere and won in college. They are pretty similar players, though, dude. The biggest difference is that Locker had better physical tools, while Bortles probably has better intangibles(mental game). That is the one big thing that makes Bortles have a chance to succeed where Locker did not. But the comparison is not that far off, and is no way, "just because they're white." Both were touted off of the eye test, and potential. It's easy to see why people would be leery.

If we take Bortles it better be after a trade down where we get more picks. I'd be pretty dissappointed to hear Bortles at #1.
Any info coming out of the Texans camp right now is misdirection on their true intentions. If anything they are hyping up players to convince other teams to want to trade up and sweeten to pot.
I hope you're right... But don't see why they would hype up Blake. I don't think any team is thinking about trading up for him.
yeah, my sentiments exactly. If we take a player that isn't worth drafting number one; please God let us not take him with the #1 overall pick. unfortunately, it's not really in our control, is it?
O'Leary? O'Brien? O'****!! Sounds like Bortles is moving out in front of the pack, but still not a #1 pick.
Im not against drsafting Bortles, if Obrien feels like this is the guy that will hep us win than im finr with it, but i just hope he doesnt base his biggest decision ever on a mentor, or because Bortles beat his team Penn State, because Manziel or Bridgewater would have destroyed Penn State as well... I hope all this crap is Smoke Sceen- if Bortles is the pick, theres no way in hell hes pick # 1. I seen this guy ranked as far as 20-30 Best player in the draft.. Manziel and Teddy are always in Top 10 best players available.. I really dont get it
I'm sure IF O'Brien wants Bortles, it's not based on just one game against Pen State. But drafting him #1 would be a reach... But the same can be said for Johnny and Teddy as well. This draft isn't top heavy with talent and that's why they are ranked as high as they are.
At this point Whoever they draft i will support, but i just dont see Bortles being draft # 1 overall.. they can get him if the trade down..
Blake Bortles could be mistake for Texans Central Florida's Blake Bortles has been a fast riser among NFL quarterback prospects for the upcoming draft, but for NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks, it's been a little too fast. But on the College Football 24/7 podcast (46:10 mark), fellow analyst Charles Davis said it might be too late for the Houston Texans. "I've seen the rush of people pushing Blake Bortles up the charts. To me, I think there is a substantial difference between the way he plays, and the other two guys," Brooks said. "I think he's a talented athlete, I think he has the prerequisite size you look for, but I just don't think his game is as polished as a Johnny Manziel or a Teddy Bridgewater. ... I think those two guys are alpha dogs, and I think Blake Bortles is a little bit behind it. But I think someone is going to talk themselves into thinking Blake Bortles is a franchise guy ahead of those guys, and I just think it's going to be a big mistake." "Don't be surprised if that's Houston," Davis responded. With a clear need at quarterback, the Texans hold the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft and Manziel, Bridgewater and Bortles have emerged as the hottest names among prospects at the position. But rather than simply assess which quarterback is better, Davis pointed to the tendencies of specific coaches and what kind of quarterbacks they have been known to employ in the past. When his upside comes up, a lot of people think he has his best football ahead of him." Davis used the analogy of children wanting to touch a hot stove, despite parental warnings, regarding the personality Manziel will bring to the NFL. Manziel, he said, will have to learn some lessons the hard way and be shown what he can and can't do at the next level. "I think Bridgewater and Bortles, you're more likely to say, 'Guys, don't do this, this and this, and they'll try to adhere to that right away," Davis said. It might not take many picks for the draft's quarterback depth to thin out, as teams holding four of the draft's first five picks have a need at the position. For the Oakland Raiders at No. 5, for instance, the quarterback decision could be made easier simply by subtraction. Manziel, Bridgewater and Bortles, conceivably, could all be gone by that point. The Texans, however, might have the hardest decision of all.
Ive watched Bortles in person and he is awful. I have watched Bortles on TV and he was trash. If the Texans draft this clown at 1, I will go back to rooting for the Packers and sell my season tickets. I cannot support a team who makes terrible drafting and signing decisions. We got lucky with D.Brown, Watt, Arian, and AJ. All these reports of Texans being high on Bortles makes me sad that our ownership/coaching staff/GM are an unholy trinity of mediocrity.
