Canaan, Asik, brewer and a first rounder for a decent asset might be what we have to go war with as far as trade chips. Moti and t jones we need to keep unless we get a milsap or ilayasova. But not getting a good 4 in return means we have to keep those 2. Cassipi at the minimum might not net much and if he's shooting well we might as well have one shooter of the bench. Brooks and Garcia won't be traded because of their veto ability that leaves us pretty packed with poor assets. Asik has a market it's just his value has dropped and Lin isn't tremendously better than too many pgs in the league and his balloon payment really doesn't help.

Just wanted to have a little better look at what we are talking about. Casspi is a vet min deal player. He plays just about 20 min a game. When his scoring is adjusted to 48 mins, he is 12th (19.5) among small forwards and 8th in rebounds (9.3). He is 21st in 3-pointers made and 22nd in attempts. Why would you want to trade him?

The correcponding numbers of TJones in the PF category are 22nd (scoring 48 mins), 18th in rebounds (48 min), and 5th in blocks. Considering his salary, why would you like to trade him?

The smart thing to do would be to trade Asik, Jones, and a first rounder and Millsap.

Start a big three with Harden/Millsap/Dwight and replicate the Heat strategy, only instead of Chalmers and Boardman you've got Lin and Parsons as your fourth and fifth starter. Let Morey use his talents to find us some halfway decent backups and use the guys we have now. Get a shot at a title run for the next two years. That team could certainly compete with anyone.

im surprised the non-playoff teams are not compelled to take the asik-lin package. if you get down to it, its these two pieces that energized houston rockets as a playoff team again. its a playoff package, looking at how much lin as improved and provided asik has not declined.

Tbh, honesty just wanted to get in on the "tbh" thing. Thb it really made me laugh.

With Morey and the approaching dealine, expect anything from Morey. But tbh I don't expect to much honesty.

Disappointing to hear we can rule out Asik and Lin being traded tbh, tho I don't totally buy it tbh. Nor do I believe it's save to rule out Jones being traded tbh. Because tbh I don't think you can rule things out with the Rockets.

That would be an awful trade thb. Millsap is good, but not that good. Tbh.

He's bluffing on a lot of this. Jeremy Lin is far from untouchable.

He's not untouchable. It's just nobody wants him. Nobody even wants Asik. $15 million for 1 year? Going to have to suck it up till next years trade deadline and look for teams that wants to shed salary.

Feigen is just a mouth piece for the Rockets. After the fall out from the blocked Gasol trade, you will see no substantive leaks from Feigen concerning any key players being available for trade by the Rockets.

I thought the Nets inquired about Lin?

It's easy to make inquiries. But, likely the way negotiations go is the Nets (or whomever) say, "we're willing to pay the $15m but you have to give us something in return," which will be either extra compensation coming with Lin or Asik (like a first round pick) or less talent going back to the Rockets. And so that's where it stops -- Morey's not willing to pay in talent for a cash flow benefit.

Why would Atlanta take on more salary while trading a player who is having a great year. The chance to get Millsap was in the summer, Atlanta would be dumb to give him up now

What a bad trade that would be. Jones has become better than Milsap. Unless you are orchestrating a salary dump maneuver. By the way our backups are better than decent we just haven't had the pleasure of seeing them play much.

I agree that Rondo is injury prone and can be a bit of a locker room cancer. He would take the ball away from Harden and that is a good thing because Harden isn't a point guard. The fact that Rondo can put up 10+ assists would be great for this team. Pick and roll with Howard with two deadly options in Chandler and Harden. Throw in that T-Jones is way better at the garbage then I ever anticipated. Rondo would do fine as a Rocket.

I'm in for Shumbert too, I just don't think either is an option.

One comment about Millsap vs TJones. Maybe, this year Millsap is a better option but with this nucleus you need to think of the next 5 years and in two years TJones is way better. Some could argue that he already is with the exception of shooting the 3. In the next two years, Tjones could do that better too.

Jones will be better than Milsap next season. Milsap is not as good as people make him out to be.
