They have been a pretty tight lipped organization in the past, I seriously doubt any information leaked...at least any news that they didn't want to be known so they could gauge the reaction of other teams
Here's the deal, the Texans own the first overall pick. Duh, Exactly, everyone knows that. With the first overall pick comes power and with power comes responsibility. Wait that's spiderman, with the power of the first overall pick comes the ability to pick whom ever they want. No one can tell them different. Duh II! So let's start with what we know. The Texans can only do one of two things, pick the guy they want or trade that pick away. One thing is for certain they haven't decided on either one as of yet. But if they had decided to use the pick on a quarter as the leak suggest in what world would it benefit to leak that they are down to Bortles and Manziel. No one with any real knowledge, the McNairs, Bill O'brien, Rick Smith would be stupid enough to do so. Okay maybe Bob's son but doubtful. Second Blake Bortles and Manziel or night and day. Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck ther is no way O'Brien could be in the camp for both. If they said Bridgewater and Bortles would have made more sense since while not really similar they are a hell of a lot closer than Manziel and Bortles. Yeah O'Brien can coach anybody up but don't you think he would prefer to start with someone a little taller than 5'11" who has shown almost pocket presence and almost exclusively a one read quarterback unless he is own the run. Manziel has not proven to anyone he can read defenses. Then there's the fact it's an anonymous source, an anonymous source. Anonymous by definition is a person who 's name is unknown or deliberately withheld. Deliberately withheld to protect his source. Why does he need to protect his source. If there really was a source don't you think the Texans have a pretty good idea who the anonymous source is since only a handful or less could now this info. Who is the BS reporter protecting. The answer himself. He either is using an unreliable source (equipment manager, waterboy, groundskeeper) and doesn't want anyone to know how stupid he is or he is making this shiit up to get more clicks to his site. Either option equals total BS.
I agree with you that O'Brien may not want Johnny because of his height. I don't "THINK" McNair is the type of owner to force Johnny on a coach. Maybe the Texans are putting Johnny's name out there to see how bad Cleveland wants him.
McGuire is a big time agent so don't know if this means anything. But it could. Didn't Dre fire his old agent and brought in McGuire when he was having trouble negotiating his contract with the Texans...??? And now Dre is getting paid $$$$ I wonder what McNair thinks of it.
Not saying at all that he's come to a decision. If he has, that doesn't bode well for his tenure here, or his coaching career, in general, in my opinion. Just pointing out that as soon as he finished evaluating our current players, I'm sure he went straight into the film room and started watching games from these guys.
The always essential analysis of Draft Breakdown completely shreds the theory that Teddy isn't an O'Brien style QB. A must read: http://draftbreakdown.com/is-bridgewater-an-obrien-qb/
Don't be ridiculous, I would disappointed but by love for the Texans never waver. My pain would be somewhat relaxed if we got Clowney
We aren't getting Manziel buddy, just face it. Third round talent hyped to the level of a top 5, its what I have been saying all the long
Manziel isn't even from here. Teddy is more of a Houstonian than JFF (I saw some pic of his mom wearing an Astro hat)
How about you face the possibility that anything can happen. No one saw Mario Williams coming, no one saw JJ Watt coming for that matter. Again, how would you react?
Manziel was born in Tyler, TX. Teddy in Miami, FL. He's the local guy if there is one. I know he's your guy and all, but I'd never threaten to quit following the team because of a draft pick. That's something the 20 year old newbies do. Again, you know I respect your opinion, but you're going quite over the top with this one.
I don't think it's that extreme... Vince was royalty in this city in high school. Johnny doesn't have that type of following in Houston.
