I don't doubt Morey, I doubt that the starters plus Lin, Asik, Garcia, and Brooks are all "safe"

I would be surprised at this point if a trade happens.

They won't trade Parsons/Lin/Harden/Howard/Jones. Bev is loved by McHale and Morey. Brooks & Garcia aren't moving.

Asik appears unmovable. Everyone else has very limited value. Casspi? Seems like we're starved for 3 point shooting so I doubt he gets moved. Dmo? Maybe that's it but for what? A 2nd rounder?

Brewer has been such a disappointment. If there is a trade, it will be from a team looking to drop a player more than acquire assets.

tbh, though, it would be weird for the Rockets to land an elite PG for two guys who have been talked about as having no trade value or negative trade value due to their backloaded contracts, especially with both of them ended up on the same team, which would have to pay them $30M combined.

If Boston is going to shop Rondo, it would appear from past deals for similar star players under similar circumstances (Deron Williams, Melo, CP3) that they should be able to fetch a better price tbh even if we assume the usual throw ins (1st rounders, etc). And it's even stranger if TJones is not to be included since he is probably Houston's best trade asset tbh, no?

And tbh, it's a little hard to believe that if Boston is trading away Rondo, and rebuilding around what's left of their (really young) roster, they would really want a couple of fairly expensive 4th year players rather than the usual young/cheap/future assets. This would be more like the "vetoed" Gasol trade where New Orleans was gonna land Odom, Martin and Scola for CP3.

I can see Boston wanting Asik more if they are keeping Rondo and are trying to rebuild AROUND Rondo tbh.

Other teams would rather Us keeping Lin till end of next year. So Lin and AsiK are really hard to move.

Can't NBA teams actually give some cash in trades? Like would the Rockets be able to trade Lin/Asik and give cash in the trade to kinda makes their third years easier to swallow? Maybe I'm thinking about baseball...

Asik has to be traded. It would make no sense not to trade him. He might not have his Max value but he has some and the longer he stays the more value he loses.

A team can spend up to 3.2 million per season to grease---er, facilitate---threads. But we spent about half that already to get Hinkie to take Rolls Royce off our hands.

This. We dont have pieces teams want for what we need to get in order to make such a trade beneficial.

We need a wing that can defend and hit threes that wont hold us down financially. the only pieces i see us entertaining for this role is dmo, asik, brewer, casspi. the later two won't net us anything. brooks and garcia will veto any trade.

were stuck with what we have, barring a minor trade.

I'm not sure why you guys think it'd be hard to get such a player tbh.

First, there are plenty of cheap(ish) 3-and-D types floating out there on teams that really have no use for them, particularly if the team is tanking and those guys are upcoming free agents who can leave soon (the Lakers are full of these contracts, for example).

Second, the Rockets may or may not have assets to land an Allstar type guy, they do have plenty of assets for the smaller kind of transactions.
Even if they are not willing to give up any rotation players, they still have some filler contracts and future draft picks to throw into such deals.

Remember when the team acquired Marcus Camby at the deadline? All it cost was a couple of filler contracts and a 2nd round pick. Camby was still a decent player, but he was stuck on a bad Portland team and his contract was expiring. So, Portland decided it's better off getting a small asset for Camby and not lose him for nothing.

I think it had more to do with Portland wanting up to jump ahead of us in the draft.

Does it have anything to do with Canaan?

Is that why he tweeted 'Guess that's it?'

Morey tried to trade Asik but failed, he will try again.
Morey tried to trade Lin but also failed, not sure he will try again.
tbh, if that 3rd star Morey wants was truly what he meant, Asik & Lin are definitely in the trading block, tbh.
    Rondo, DWill?

What is up with the rondo and dwill talk. They don't really fit. Plus dwill is to injury prone. Rondo is a sexy name to try to get but doesn't make us better because he will ultimately take away from hardens game.

IMHO Harden, Howard and Parsons are untouchables. Brooks and Garcia can't be traded without their agreement. Casspi is a veterans minimum guy and there is no point in trading him. TJones and DMo have tiny salaries and obviously producing way above their cap hit. The only salaries that would bring Houston cap relieve are JLin and Asik. Only if they are traded can Houston look at high quality players (especially backup center). For me it is really difficult to see any meaningful trade without JLin and/or Asik involved.

There is always a possibility that the upcoming trades leave good players in the waivers. It might be an option to pick up somebody there, but then somebody must be waived before that from Houston roster.
