What can't Russell Wilson do? And what wouldn't a 6'3" Russell Wilson be able to do? He played a perfect game yesterday. What's there to complain about? Harvin didn't play a whole lot, but he didn't need to. He, like Wilson, did what he needed to. Seattle's defense, idek what to say, they are just ridiculous. The most impressive part is that they are built with a lot of nobodies who made names for themselves.
If you look at both SF and Seattle defenses, it's clear that scouting and development contributes more to their success than just stacking high picks. Especially true with Seattle. It's also clear that Rick Smith does not have the ability to find and develop studs with later picks and lowly priced FAs. Bridgewater may be a bust. But he at least has a reasonable chance to be a superb QB. There's no reasonable chance Rick Smith can draft a Seattle defense in a short period of time. I put the odds of that at something like one in a million. I mean, can you imagine Rick Smith even drafting one pro-bowler with a non-1st rounder on D? I think Barwin the one-year wonder came the closest. While Seattle has multiple such players.
I've tried to post this a few times, and my browser keeps kicking it back. Hopefully this one goes through. But I actually agree with Remii.... Percy Harvin played a large role, the same way that Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson would even if they didn't have a good stat line. After the first end around, they had to find him every play, make sure the defense was properly allocated to stopping him. 133 AP yards, and a TD, I would call that a resounding success.....
Texans reportedly leaning towards either drafting Manziel or Borltes with the first pick, according to ProFootballTalk.... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com
I have a hard time believing anything right now. This is just throwing darts and hoping that something sticks.
Gametape, which I would think just as heavily as interviews, and slightly ahead of combine numbers....especially for quarterbacks. If you think O'Brien hasn't been knee deep in game tape for the last two weeks or so, you're wrong.
If you think he's come to a conclusion for the biggest, possibly legacy defining move of his tenure, you're wrong.
Yeah there's no chance at all that they'd come to a conclusion as to who to take in the draft before the combine. That would be universally stupid.
When drafting this high in the draft, the only thing the combine is good for when judging quarterbacks is for body measurements. Most of the top guys probably won't even throw at the combine. They'll have a pretty good idea of who they want before then if quarterback is the way they are going.
Or..ya know...getting to know, on a personal level, the guy you're investing millions on to be the face of a billion dollar franchise.

They can fly them in to do that and more than likely they are investigating their backgrounds now. Plus most of the top QBs will hold a pro day. Body measurements, wonderlic test, and 40 times is probably the most they will get out of these guys at the combine.
LOL the only reason these reports are coming out about Bortles and JJF is because BOB CLEARLY said that he knows Bortles' game pretty well, and has seen JJF...has never seen Teddy. It's early Feb...there are over 3 months till May...BOB will do his HW and pick the best QB available...which I think is Teddy. even though ive never seen him play either hahaaaaaaaha
Not that it's the same group, but did anybody really hear Mario Williams' name associated with the Texans more than a couple of weeks before the draft? There were all sorts of reports from people who reported Texans' FO had decided to take either Bush or VY. Who knows? Maybe Kahlil Mack could be the pick.
Negotiations had a lot to do with the Texans picking Williams over Bush. Remember there was no rookie scale salary at the time and Bush wanted more than the Texans were comfortable paying and didn't want Bush sitting out to make a point.
