No doubt. The insiders coddle the lakers way too much. Now they are trying to make the lakers feel better by saying kevin love will 100 percent go there. Yeah right

Lakers: Kobe out, expected out. How exactly are we to be compared to them when they are expected to suck? We have injuries but not season out or close to that.

I agree with this article. We lose against teams with sorry records. We cant hold leads, feels like every time.

WE can be up 20 points and any Rocket fans will be like damnit.

Most people had us 4th in the West at best. OKC, SA, LAC were mostly ranked ahead, and sometimes GS too. They knew Howard is a new addition as well. Now people are acting like they picked us as champions.

Kinda hard to argue with that right now. Many here were talking about tanking for a favorable first round matchup (with the Spurs) not too long ago.

I don't consider the Rockets to be the most disappointing team .... but they have underperformed.
You look at the Spurs against non playoff teams , they have 32 wins & and only one loss against the teams they are suppose to beat have a very poor record against teams in playoff positions (2-12).

The Rockets have done much better against those teams in playoff position but .... have several inexcusable losses against the bottom feeders. If they would take care of business against the bottom feeders , they'd be in the hunt for that #1 seed .... not mired in the middle of the playoff pack , there would also be no discussion of tanking for favorable playoff matchups.

Disappointing , yes to some degree .... Most disappointing , I don't think so.

Yep, why shouldn't I?! There was a period where he was just going through the motions and had no interest in playing the game. I think I even posted something along the lines of "benching him" *GASP*!

Sorry to end your crusade short ;)

with the "star players" we have, basically it's saying we should be top 3 in the west...

I don`t know, maybe I am just mixing reports from different sites. But I have continuesly read rankings in the West that had the Rockets behind the Warriors, Spurs, OKC and Clippers. Some even had Memphis or Denver ahead of us. And I think nobody had us higher than 3.

Now we are 5th - that`s a little worse than I would have expected, but not by much. I believe we are 3 games behind the second spot. GSW is 7th, Memphis not in the playoffs. New Orleans and Minnesota were hyped.

And we are the team with the biggest additions and most injury bad luck - of course this team will play inconsistent at the start of the season.

Most disappointing? No. Wait till the season is over, if we are still 5th maybe we are the most disappointing, but right now I would say we are were we thought we were. Get the guys comfortable with each other and we should play more consistent. I still think we are headed for the second round and might make it to the conference finals...

This. I remember before the season people were putting us right about 5th/6th in the West. Most had us lower than the Warriors.

We should be winning our division but we are not, so I am disappointed in us being the 5th seed.

It's been a great season so far, and although there have been some games that were disappointing, the only way I could see myself calling the Rockets the "most disappointing team in the West" is if I confuse realistic expectations with this team's upside potential.

    -Trade for a vet/enforcer/floor general.

-If he can't find a way to play with the same heart that he has the past couple of games, every game, Morey will most likely trade him to acquire a missing piece.
-Sometimes he can't do it. And if Mchale ain't going anywhere, we need to bring in a vet who can do that on the floor. Bev and Parsons provide some leadership and cohesion, but they don't have that same reverence an older and more experienced vet would.

One tough and inspiring floor/lockerroom leader (like Battier, Billups, hell even Pierce, or Nate, or Garnett, or Wallace) can change the heartbeat of this team. It doesn't have to be a superstar.

Who made the expectations? Maybe the people who expected more wins got there expectations wrong. I for one saw us competing for the 4th seed.
