Troy Aikman may be the most singularly overrated player in NFL history.

His postseason record is damning. He's prob the best regular season QB in history, but his postseason record keeps him out of the top 5 at best.

Big Ben only won with great defenses, iirc.

It ain't like Russel Wilson did a whole helluva lot to win that game either. A lot of Peyton's problem is that he takes average teams to the superbowl.

Sure peyton make a few mistakes in that game, but when you are a passing qb who has nobody to pass to, or your reciever sees the wrong route, there ain't a whole hellva lot he can do.

I mean peyton is a timing qb any defenses know this so they are going to do whatever it takes to get his receivers off time.

That can happen when you get there every year.

No Manning team that made the SB was average. Especially not this year's team.

How could Marino possibly have a case over Manning?

When I think of greatest of all time in any sport and at any position I rank guys who's bulk of their careers occurred during what I like to call the modern era (1980-present). Being born in 83, this is what I consider modern era as it encompasses guys that I have watched live and those that I just missed out on, but am very familiar with their body of work.

Regardless of the outcome of this Super Bowl, Peyton for me is the greatest of all time. I don't think we have ever seen nor will ever see a quarterback have as much control as he does and put up the results that he has.

    10) Troy Aikamn
    9) Drew Brees
    8) Steve Young
    7) Jim Kelly
    6) Dan Marino
    5) Brett Favre
    4) Tom Brady
    3) Joe Montana
    2) John Elway
    1) Peyton Manning

Guys like Eli, Roethlisberger and Rivers would need some extrodinary efforts over the next 3-5 years or whatever is left of their prime years for a chance to crack the top 10. Aaron Rodgers has a better chance than those IMO, of getting his name on this list but its going to take bringing his Packers back up to one of the elite teams in the NFL. Than out of the young guys (Newton, Kaepernick, Luck, Griffin III and Wilson) I don't see Kaepernick or RG III as having what it takes to be considered top 10. The other 3 have a shot and I really like Luck's chances of going down as a all time great as he possesses such a unbelievable array of QB skills coupled with athletic ability.

I like the names on your list but not the order.

    7) Jim Kelly
    10) Troy Aikman
    9) Drew Brees
    8) Steve Young
    5) Brett Favre
    6) Dan Marino
    2) John Elway
    1) Peyton Manning
    4) Tom Brady
    3) Joe Montana

If having three SuperBowl rings makes you "overrated" then please sign me up for some of that!

Part of being a great QB is being clutch. While Peyton can light up some scrub team in Week 17, he can't be counted on when everything is on the line like a Tom Brady. Last night was an epic meltdown.

Like the AFC Championship game? Tom Brady hasn't exactly won anything in a while either. His own greatest-offense-in-history team didn't exactly light up the Superbowl either.

Player postseason records since the 2005 rule changes... when Brady (and quarterbacks in general) became uber gods and the Patriots defense stopped being awesome.

    Brady: 9W-8L (0-2 in Superbowls)

    Manning: 8W-7L (1-2 in Superbowls)

Tom Brady has won 3 Super Bowls. Only Montana and Bradshaw have more (4).

I don't think Brady would have choked last night. Hell even Kaepernick had a better game against Seattle.
