McHale was very complimentary to DMo after the game. I think DMo will definitely get minutes after Asik returns. DMo has stepped up and is doing what he needs to do. But, Asik gives us something off the bench that no one else can provide, so he will be getting his 12-15 minutes per night. I think DMo will be used more or less depending on who our opponent is that night. So I see Lin Asik, Casspi, and DMo playing regularly off the bench. Brooks may get in the game if we need some instant offense and our other guards are struggling. Smith, Garcia, and Brewer should see very few minutes.
he will be boo'ed - because of his gutless antics ...and because he will probably be with another team
Rockets will win games at a higher percentage. Several Clutchfans will not admit Asik was really injured despite Asik playing like he did last year. Something else will happen that cause several Clutchfans posters to irrationally get their panties in a twist.
So anyone who played behind somebody has to play off the bench his whole career even if he DID become a starter? And even if he demands a trade he is called a quitter when he reportedly has an injury which is admitedly weird BUT stated by so many different sources and is indeed not about pain but about a swelling (which is reprtedly seen by several sources close to the organisation) which happens to begin every time he starts to train again. Greg Smith missed a whole bunch of games also, tried to come back and was injured the right game he wanted to come-back. Is he also a drama queen?
At least G Smith tried to come back. That shows effort. Can't deny the fact that just after Asik gets a new agent he's unable to play? I think Manti Teo's fake girlfriend is Asik's physical therapist. So when is he coming back? I don't think fake injuries ever heal. Just ask Ferris Bueller...........Bueller?.....Bueller?.....
If JVG making opinions on a guys health based on one game of pouting despite no reason for the Rockets and Asik to fake an injury, then yes he may be irrational on this case.
IF Asik is still on the team after the trade deadline then I think he and DMo will get 12 to 16 minutes a game each. With Garcia out and with DMo stepping up, Casspi has been getting most of his minutes at the SF position. I think the Rockets rotation will go 9 deep with Asik, DMo, Casspi and Lin after the trade deadline if Asik is still on the team.
Good thread. When you're mentally away, you're already gone. Morey has a heart, but trading Big o won't be easy. The thing is though, guys, Morey likes to wait until the last minute. It doesn't matter if it's one of those times like Thanksgiving or Christmas; Morey will make waves whenever he feels inclined to make changes. Courtney Lee would have been nice (again) but TJ has become our better, more athletic Brandon Bass. Sometimes what we, as fans, think the team needs isn't what the front office has in mind. It's somewhere between.
A bench that has Lin/Asik & shooting is going to be one of the best in the NBA. The Rockets need health more than they need some bad contract veterans who are a minor upgrade at best. Courtney Lee would have been great but I dont know if he has the impact that Asik has on the court when healthy, and his contract runs a year past Asiks.... and Brandon Bass.... uhhhh.... no thank you. If the Rockets could find a way to bring in a Garcia upgrade (Dunleavy type) have D-Mo & Casspi share duties as the backup PF (D-Mo when you need size, Casspi when you want shooting) you have a pretty solid backup unit that could be starting & be a playoff team in the East. Health and Omer's pride are the only two things holding that back... not some bad trade for a high priced veteran.
casspi is not a playoffs rotation guy at AT ALL, he wouldn’t even be in regular season rotation at PF on any top 8 team in the west now, if so tell me one he would be on ? Bass is a great one on one defender, screen setter with Playoff experience, big heart type of guy that doesn’t show up on stats sheet. His midrange is money and he is 85% FT throw shooter compared to casspi. FTs are something this team struggles with. He would be a solid PF coming off the bench to defend ibaka, griffen PFs on teams we don’t want to face come playoffs “thunder & clippers” I think morey knows all of this that’s why the trade almost happened and got as far to WOJ reporting it, but he thought twice about lees 2015-2016 deal and pulled out last min. Im not syaing morey should’ve made the trade "yet" because 2-20-14 is not here yet, so only time will tell but I totally disagree with these comments in bold. as a long time rockets fan you should know "Heart wins a championship" that’s the last way we won and I think that will be the case the next time it happens here in houston .
