If we package him with Asik i think someone will at least bark at the offers. Some team out there should be desperate enough and have something we want.
How is this crazy? Letting the team gel and improve together is proabably better than trading them and ruining the chemistry. What happens when you trade for someone? You wait for them to gel again and waste the time of Howard and Harden.
I'm sorry, but the word "superstar" is thrown around way too easily nowadays. Only Lebron and KD are worthy of that title. Every other big name is just a star with varying levels of luminosity. Rockets way overpaid for Harden considering how Lamb turned out and Harden was already on his way out after feeling "disrespected" for not being offered a max deal. 3 picks and 2 players is worthy for the 2 superstars I mentioned - not Harden. As for Lin - he'll probably stick with the team until at least next February and then be traded with Asik.
Lebron/KD would get way more than an expiring contract, Jeremy Lamb, 1st round pick in a weak draft (ended up being Adams), future pick top 20 protected, and a second round pick. So no that is not worthy of those two superstars.
I agree with this. Selling now would actually be selling low I think, plus the poison pill contract lowers his value much further. I think we should just face it, Asik and Lin are not going anywhere until their contracts are up in 2015.
Lin will neva see his full potential here in houston because of harden. harden needs the ball too be effective, there a reason he was six man in OKC. I want lin to leave and play a full season in another team as chief playmaker like john wall. i bet he pull above average no. And even if he on a losing team he will still be treated as a star due to his stats. here in houston there nothing for him except maybe a championship.
Morey did. Well, he used "foundation player." But really what kind of player can possibly be a foundation of a team without actually being a star/superstar. Morey certainly didn't use it with Lowry or Dragic or Scola. All of which were near stars as Rockets. And in Lowry/Dragic's case, potential to be future all-stars. But Morey felt none of them to be enough of a foundation for the team. However, Morey called "6th man" Harden a foundation player before he started a single game for us. So was Morey being asinine back then?
But Lin doesn't fit the system. He needs to be a starter somewhere else. He plays best with the ball in his hands. Now it's time for a new team to give him a chance.
What do you mean by "high" anyway? Can he fetch a potential lottery pick in this draft? No chance. a pick in the 20s? Is that really high? In terms of players, any team going to give up a young stud for Lin? No. Someone like Brandon Bass? Probably. But if that's "sell high", then that's pretty crappy return. Lin's best offer was a $8mil/yr deal right after Linsanity ended. He's gone on to prove doubters right in terms of the unsustainability of Linsanity. And now he's suppose to have value?
Lin's value to this team, if properly utilized, greatly outstrips any trade we can get for him. 8 mil cap hit is excellent value for a PG of Lin's caliber, but the 15 mil financial hit will dissuade suitors from jumping on his potential. Lin's gonna stay. He is the X factor if the Rockets are to compete with the Pacers, Thunder, and Heat.
Only if we can get a better combo guard in return, which I strongly doubt. The league doesn't value Lin as highly as the Rockets do.
