Barr will be in the top 8, at least.

Very possibly. He has great upside to go with great risk. Someone will roll the dice on him, only time will tell if they crap out.

Truthfully, since we already have a dynamic defensive player, picking another defensive player would pretty much be a sure bet. I like Clowney, but he is not known to be flexible. In no way should they try to move their top defensive player over anywhere. Instead take the top LB.
They would be taking more of a chance choosing QB first. Especially when this draft is filled with them.

The problem with taking Barr is that you might already have him on the team in Travardo Williams. Both are physical freak LB's, Barr might beat his numbers slightly, but they are the same basic player. Picking another would be a waste IMO because you don't need a second speed rushing OLB.

As to Clowney, he wouldn't be a "bendy" OLB, he'd be a power rushing OLB or just simply used as a DE. Either way, he'd wreak havoc on O lines, stop the run to his side, and put pressure on the QB. That's always valuable.

Barr's probably not even in the picture.

You mean where he averaged a 76.3 completion percentage, over 2 TD's, and only threw 1 pick? Those 3 games?

He does seem to do a lot of flip-flopping.

Well it got hushed pretty quickly, but I know everyone remembers that story that came out about Kiper being paid by certain agents/players to pump up certain prospects before the draft.....if he didn't lose me before that, then he definitely lost me once this came out.....

So...if Seattle goes on to win this...will that sway people's opinion on who to draft?

Some people seem to think that a great QB is the most important aspect of building a team...but if Seattle DOES win this...then it will be the 2nd year in a row where a team led by its defense wins it all. Sure your QB has to be decent...but a great defense can make a great QB look mediocre...

I have to say...drafting Clowney now seems like the only thing to do for the Texans. We are closer to building a great defense than having a franchise QB any ways.

I would be fine with Clowney or a QB. QB still is the most important position on a team by a long shot.

I think this past decade or so has shown that defense wins championships. There is a reason why guys like Watt will get bags of money thrown at them. If you can't score in this league then you better be able to stop other teams from scoring, it's simple I know but people make it a lot more complicated then it is.

Peyton and Brady are great and all, but they don't get it done without a great defense either...

My point is you don't NEED a great QB to win superbowls. A lot of people act like you do, but actually you just need a guy that isn't afraid of stepping up in big games.

But the texans aren't close to being as good as the Seahawks or niners defensively. Those teams have multiple elite players on that unit.

Texans have Watt and that's about it.

We don't have a "decent" QB. Our defense was good this year but the fact that our offense kept on turning the ball over gassed our defense and led to the drop in production.

Seattle's defense is great because of their secondary. So i don't understand your point about drafting clowney. We can draft bridgewater and still build our defense by drafting a good player with our second.

Our second = a later first

Our third = a late second

That is the best spot to draft talent on the defensive side.

To build a great defense what you need is to either have a elite D-line, secondary, or LB core.

The Panthers for example and the Niners have elite LB, the group makes the entire team better.

The Seahawks strength is the secondary. It makes the pass rushers look better than they actually are. Love Michael Bennet, he's a really good player...but he's no star DE.

Clowney could turn our good Dline into elite, one of the best in the NFL. The theory is that him next to Watt would be close to unblockable, and therefore it would make the secondaries job a lot easier.

It would make the LBs flow a lot easier to the ball for instance...that's all IF Clowney lives up to the hype of course...but I rather shoot for the moon then draft a guy whose ceiling is a good QB like the rest of the QB class.

Do you think this game will influence the Texans to take Clowney? I certainly think so.
