I think what you should strive for is being able to put a large enough down payment to have your car note 300 or less. And even then, be able to basically pay it off early in a couple of years. You always hear people talk about having a car note for so long, and how they feel so good when they pay it off...just to go get another. All I'm sayin' is, no you don't have to have the kind of buying power to buy cash, but have enough to make your payments low, and to have the ability to pay it off early.
Currently no car note. Plan to keep it that way for a year or so, and even then I'd like to put a large down payment down so that my note wouldn't be more than $350 at the most (would really like $300 or less).
555 a month for loaded Sierra. If you can afford it get the truck. Planning on trading out of this one for a 2015 Sierra HD. Do I like car notes? No. Know what I like less than car notes? Driving a vehicle I'm not happy/bored with. To each his own.
And you still probably owe more than the car is worth, so regardless of your low percentage you are still talking about a serious depreciating asset. People don't exactly get rich by financing depreciating assets.
Car note is $0. I drive a 2005 Honda Accord with close to 200K miles, purchased used in 2006 with 12K miles.
299. 2012 Infiniti g37xs. Got a great deal on the lease and actually got them to drop the price by 7k and got the sport and nav added to the deal. Just paid the taxes and first months payment. I think I'm going to buy this car at the end of the lease. I did get it towards the end of the year and they were not sure when they where getting new body styles or new names for the car and that most likely helped me get a good deal.
unless you take the money that would go towards paying the car in full and invest it and yield a higher % than interest.
a car is always a depreciating item! you can only try to lessen it by buying used or something. that doesn't mean u should buy cars. how the hell are u going to get around in houston? money is good but you do you have to unfortunately spend it once in a while..and grasp! on things that loses it value over time.
