Not saying I would ever wish this on somebody, but I just have trouble drumming up too much sympathy for people who mess with drugs. At some point everybody with drug problems had a clear head and made the conscious choice to play russian roulette. Do feel bad for his family though.
You're just willingly throwing your life away, as well as hurting others, when you go down that route. I loved PSH. What a shame...
Heroin is just an opiate, just like many prescription pain relievers (some of which are stronger opiates than heroin). All opiates are addictive and carry the risk of dependence, but it's the fact that heroin is commonly used IV which makes the user more likely to develop a serious addiction.

He threw away his amazing life. Such a pity, brought on by his selfishness. When will people learn that drugs lead only to disaster? Prayers for his family.

Wow. I just heard this. I seriously exclaimed "Oh my God!" So shocking! Prayers to his family and loved ones.

God dammit. Drugs just keep robbing us of great souls. Sorry for swearing but I'm so tired of this. So angry and sad...
This dude had a 5, 7 and 10 year old kid btw. Feel sorry for those kids. Hard to have sympathy for PSH though. I understand addiction... But the kids man, how can you do that? And not that I can pretend to know his life... But could it have been that bad??

It's kind of interesting that he once played Lester Bangs in a movie only to end up with pretty much the same fate. Both ended up dead in a NYC apartment from an opiate overdose. Why would someone start doing heroin again after being sober for 23 years?
It never truly leaves you. It's always lurking in the backyard, waiting for you to open the door just wide and long enough to get in. And once it's in, sometimes it creates a flame that's only snuffed when you cut off its oxygen.
