Only two qbs that remind me of that specific trait in this draft 1. Teddy Bridgewater 2. Johnny Manziel Bridgewater is more controlled about it though
Despite his perceived lack of statistical anomaly (clutch), he has led 14 game winning drives in his career, and it would be considerably more than that if the defense wasn't so poor for the majority of his career. Not that game winning drives or 4th quarter comebacks really matter, they merely say that either the QB didn't do enough in the rest of the game to keep a lead or that the defense was poor. However I know people who believe in "clutch" really love "stats" like that so I listed it anyway.
Schaub could throw the ball when he had time. Our line took a significant step back this year. Schaub was all-pro that year. I think both the QB's being drafted can be better down the road, and will be(better than Schaubs 2011 season).
Very easy to win games when they don't matter much However its games like the one he had against the Colts that the most telling
Schaub was an effective game manager. Once the league figured out Kubiak's offense, Schaub showed his true colors.
Hell in both of the wins this yr he led the Texans to come from behind wins. And his 2nd half against the chargers was arguably as good a half as he has ever played.
I would still like to see what O'Brien can do with Schaub. He has the intelligence, accuracy (before this yr) and decision making skills that he looks for in his qb's. This would the Texans a myriad of options including Clowney and a playmaker or best OL in the 2nd. Or trade down.
Agreed, especially because it's a figment of your imagination. Clutch is nothing but a statistical anomaly that's more based on chance than anything else. You can't "fix" chance or luck either.
If you look at his highlights you can see that he did have some mobility before he had his injury. Now he's just a statue with what looks like a weaker arm. Texans need to save the cap space and cut him.

Maintaining calm under pressure is a real thing, but "clutch" is not. Clutch is just BS that mindless fools like Skip Bayless talk about because they have a loose understanding of what is going on. They prefer to talk about mystic intangibles like "clutch" because the X's and O's reasons are either beyond their understanding or are not entertaining enough for TV. An example of the arbitrary nature of "clutch" is Average Joe. He throws a pass up for grabs a year ago against Denver that is intercepted or at least knocked down 9 out of 10 times, but because the Safety played the ball about as poorly as he could have it becomes a "clutch" throw. In fact, a lot of the time "clutch" boils down to nothing more than chance and luck. A defender makes a great play on a ball, the QB "choked" and "doesn't have the clutch gene", a defender makes a mistake and it's a "clutch" throw. Talking about "clutch" is just behind "just winz" as one of the worst arguments in all of sports.
