OP fail. there's more talent on the 22 game team

Yao + Tmac > Howard + Harden im afraid to say
Scola, Landry > our PFs right now
AB back then is better than AB now
Battier is a better defender than CP but CP is better offensively

Maybe. Don't know how much heart tin man has. But Tmac was not tough, was not a great teammate and was not a leader

    1. He didn't play in 22 games, that was a team accomplishment. If you only remembered Tmac from that great run, then you really weren't watching.

    2. you mean 13 in 33? that was great. Was that in the playoffs? oh. no.

You want some moments? how about 99 of them?

    have some:

Why did it happen? One reason, Tmac. Why we won't do it again? One reason, we don't have Tmac.

    Lol @ 2007 team ball.

    Jvg's offense was just awful.

Basically the difference was Ron Artest, but essentially the same team. You put a healthy YaoMac on either and it's a championship team - perhaps dynasty.

The two polar sides of the T-mac debate. One irrational fan who believes T-mac did no wrong, and the other irrational fan that believed T-mac could do no right.

These two belong together forever. Tinman has finally the anti-thesis to himself.

That team had amazing chemistry, where everyone was doing what they had to do to win and cared about nothing else. And it wasn't about their stars going off either. TMac was of course amazing, but equally for his assists as for his scoring. It was guys like Novak, Scola, Landry, Brooks, and Battier taking turns in the offensive spotlight that really made the streak possible and special. On top of that, their team defense was still at a high level, a remnant of the JVG era.

But the thing that impressed me most, and no one seems to remember, was Rafer Alston's performance. Over his career Skip to My Lou got a ton of flak from the fans, but IMO he had one of his best runs as a Rocket during that streak and played a pivotal role on both ends of the court. Played tough man-to-man defense, his teardrops were dropping, and brought a needed swagger to the team.

It is really rare for a team to reach that level of chemistry, team defense, veteran poise, and overall talent. And IMO our current team is quite far away.

no rafer, head, jackson, harris, or novak

add artest, barry, lowry, and wafer.

each addition/subtraction were essential in either season's (regular season) success, but made the fabric and personality of each team quite different, in my opinion.

edit: what I'm saying is: one was a 22 game streak team, one was a 2nd Round playoff team.

Sweet Lou, I agree with your assessment as well, we will never know...

Delusional. That team wasn't a contender. The Lakers toyed with us. When it counted, they won easily.

I didn't say they were better, I said the current roster has more talent. I stated that 2007 team played with more heart etc... please read correctly.

4 in a row... here we go. I think the team is getting healthy and are playing as a team a lot better as of late.

Yea um, Harden isn't anywhere close to the same league of TMac, it's hardly even the same sport...

Dwight, while the best 5 in the game, not debatable btw, is half, at best, as good as Yao. Yao had probably the 2nd best skill set of any big man, ever. Ever.

Also, the competition has risen in the west since those days, we really had very few Top-Notch teams in our way as we do now.

The Rockets overachieved, then severely underachieved.

Yao easily a top 5 all time center, TMac easily a top 5 all time SG, and we had Battier Hayes and Scolandry. We lose 100 cool points and gain +1000 difficulty for having Teardrop Alston on the team tho..... So there is that.

22? Not happening, prolly ever again.

Combination of playing well, luck, and soft schedule.
