TBH.. I think Aaron Donald is JJ Watt 2.0 I doubt he produces like JJ.. But, he has "Star" written all over him. My favorite player in this draft outside of Bridgewater & Amaro.
I disagree. This day and age you build a proper defense through your LB's and Safeties... And then add an elite passrusher. Seeing the texans already have an elite passrusher, they need to focus on LB and secondary (FS in particular)
He has a non-stop MOTOR, that would give him the edge over Nix. Its really what you need next to Watt, another guy keeps his engine running till the whistle
Sure, hypothetically there is nothing that would guarantee that those guys wouldn't get "stonewalled" by just one player, but that would have been a lot like saying "Bridgewater has yet to attempt a pass in the NFL. Nothing is for certain that he doesn't throw 100 interceptions his first year and be out of the league after his rookie deal." Despite the fact that it's technically true, the odds are WAY against it. You're simply wrong, he has a very refined swim and spin move along with a bull rush and a speed rush move, he also uses his hands very effectively. In fact, there's not many ways your statement could have been any more wrong than it was.
I agree... the "non stop motor" and "desire to never quit" is so freaking important. that's why Clowney will never reach his full potential. He's a paycheck player who gives crap effort when things aren't going well. Pairing up Donald with JJ would be SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than Clowney & JJ. It's not even close.
Look around the NFL... Every great 3-4 defense has a big boy in the middle. Ray Lewis was able to play as long as he did because of Ngata... The defensive line is like the offensive line because you can't do 5h!t without one. The point of attack is THE MOST important part of the defense and in a 3-4 the NT is like the left tackle.
It sounds ridiculous to say that Nix and Clowney will be commanding double teams when they are both unrefined as rushers ???They aren't refined at all actually, still quite raw. No he does not use hands effectively. It is easy to keep him engaged once his hands are on your
There's no question that the Texans will be drafting a fat guy to put in the middle at some point in this draft. In a perfect world, it's Nix at 33 however Daniel McCullers (who is probably too tall to be honest), Beau Allen, or Mister Cobble might be more realistic.
Nose tackle is huge in the 3-4, their primary responsibility is to eat "space" or blockers so that the inside backers are free to roam. Its partly whats been our problem this year. Very easy to get blockers to the next level when you can 1 on 1 the NT
lol, the two teams in the superbowl have below average offensive lines.... great qb's can do work with or without a good oline. i like nix.. i really do... but, he's nothing compared to donald.
um no. texans problem last year was Cushing got hurt as usual, and the talent behind him is utter crap. not to mention the secondary was atrocious.
LOL, okay whatever you say guy. There's really no point arguing with you since it would be like arguing math with someone who swears that one plus one is four. Something is just fundamentally wrong with the way you view football players so pointing out where you are wrong is futile.
You guys should cool your jets with the Aaron Donald hype, he's an undersized pass rusher, his motor is great, but without the physical tools his ceiling is limited. He's a late first round pick at best.
Nix's job isn't to rush... It's to push. Even Alabama was double and triple teaming him and he still had 5 tackles and 2 for a loss. His job is just to destroy the offensive line and push them back. And the other players make the plays. He's a day one starter who has to be doubled teamed on practically every snap. The average center weighs 300 lbs. They can't block him 1 on 1.
You're talking about two different thinks. You said the defensive line isn't as important as the LBs and corners are whatever and that is not true... And every quarterback isn't Manning. And every running back isn't Lynch.
Oh wow. That's so incredibly embarrassing for you. Did you just bring up 3 linebackers when I was pointing out that Donald was an undersided DT? Please don't make me point out to you why this is incredibly stupid. Prove to me you can figure out why your comment was laughable by yourself.
