I don't understand why people do these comparisons. I mean I realize they're not trying to say Lin is better than Kobe, but he was 18/19 in his first 7 starts. Big surprise that he didn't play like a HOFer.
I don't get or see this. Sure a few trolls are suggesting Harden to come off the bench, but that is only in response to the reasons that are stated why Lin is coming off the bench...i.e. TROLL MATERIAL. No one who is a basketball fan, Rockets fan, or knowledgeable about basketball should seriously think Lin is better than Harden or that Harden should come off the bench for the Rockets. I'm a Rockets fan first who is a Lin fan and hopes for Lin to be successful every game, but in no way fashion or form do I want Harden off this team or to be a bench player so that Lin can be successful. What I do want, is for our coaching staff to have Lin start/play/close at PG and for Harden to play SG and control the game part of the time, not the majority of the time. I want this because I think it is the best course for the ROCKETS, not for Lin. Sure there are some over zealous Lin fans that may be delusional and think or say that Lin is better than Harden because of their love for him, but trust that they are in the minority of his fans, as most are much smarter than that I think.
I know, but I have read this forum since 2000, so I have seen it all. Sometimes certain things need to be said, and sometimes certain things don't help. Each person gets to choose for themselves what is what.
1. D'antoni PG offense 2. No scouting report 3. Mostly ****ty teams 4. He was just on fire 5. Luck 6. Perfect teammates that fit his style of play 7. Got superstar treatment 8. No defense 9. No left hand 10. t/o prone 11. NBA players felt bad for him and thus were just letting him score all those points 12. Lin took steroids at the time 13. Lin poisoned the gatorade of the opposing team 14. Linsanity was a creation of David Stern--Opposing teams and players, including John Wall, were paid by Stern to tank or get outplayed. 15. Stern was accepting money from the U.S. Government to create Linsanity 16. The last but most important, the Chinese government promised to forget up to 25% of the 1.3 trillion the U.S. owed to China. is that everything?
So, essentially what you're saying is that given the exact situation, you could plug any 'average/below average' PG in and their #'s would be just as good, correct? So presumably, if you put any above average PG in that situation their #'s would have been even better. Did I miss anything?
HELL NO! Just look at reason 14, 15, 16. Stern took money from the U.S. Government, who in turn took money from the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), who in turn took a lot of lobbied money from Chinese and Taiwanese corporations and businesses; thus, this could have only happened to a NBA player who was Asian. but moreover, Lin prayed vehemently to get a chance, and got it. Thus proving that there is a god, as such, is number 17 17. Big man in the sky decided to bless Lin, if only for a moment, the luck and miracle of doing what he did.
Sorry, I originally scanned your post and thought it was an LOH or LOFH posting some nonsense about it being a fluke - nice sarcasm!
As you define it here, there are precious few "ignorant fools". Nice straw man. Linsanity is long gone and Rockets fans don't give a care about what happened in NY. What matters is right now it's very hard to have intelligent discussions about Lin and the reason is because he's Asian. For the record, I think Lin is a great guy and it's very easy for me to root for him. He is a credit to the NBA. But some of his lunatic fans are hopelessly delusional. You guys that are posting what Lin did in his first 7 starts are a complete joke. This is a Houston Rockets forum and NEWSFLASH!!! nobody gives a care.
The problem is mchale He sucks and has no clues on what to do Does Lin play better without harden? absolutely! But harden is our most talented player, it's up to the coach on how to properly integrate him without the detriment of the team.
I agree that's part of the reason he gets "attacked" and "defended" so much, but MeMac and Haren get trashed a ton too. Except they were playing well most of the time. Jeremy has a huge fan base both on Clutchfans, and around the world, and it ain't just Asians either. DMo is huge in Lithuania, Israelis love Omri, people with anxiety disorders be well with Royce White, although I don't think Dominicans give a mofongo about Garcia. Now here's a question though: why does nobody get on Chandler Bang (lol at the innuendo)? Spoiler Is it cuz his contract is the size of Daryl Morey's kindergarten piggy bank (DMo is playing for free food), or because he's the one friendly White American guy on the team? Please don't start banging on him though, he's the most consistent guy we have right now. But to finish my point, are you aware that every team has their fan-favorite white guy from Birdman to the Red Mamba?
If Lin were Black or White, (Asian) LOFs wouldn't exist because Black and White guys aren't as derided and emasculated as Asian guys are in America. Asian fans don't just blindly follow all Asian athletes. Shin Soo Choo just signed a massive contract with the Rangers, but there is no such thing as "Choo Only Fans" causing controversy in the Texas Rangers forums. Lin's story uniquely resonated with Asian fans because of his upbringing and the very relatable adversities he faced.
