As usual, you stated it better than I........... and you hit on an important point that is ALWAYS overlooked. A big reason that Morey and his front office has had success isn't luck, it isn't some sort of magic equation..... it is HARD WORK. Daryl and his staff are not the sort to work 9-5. They put in hours that other GM's would not and did not.
I'd say Portland and Indiana are the two organizations a bit high on themselves this year. (And NY... always NY.)
Retaining Perk to jettison Harden? They are an overrated organization IMO. If/when Russ and/or KD take flight let's see how quickly that franchise becomes Cleveland of the Sun Belt.
And how exactly is that proof they are overrated? They needed Perkins somewhat because it frees Ibaka to run around getting weakside blocks. Harden would be overpaid for what he would bring to that team with Durant and Westbrook there. If you're going to pin one mistake on them and call them overrated, then does that mean Rockets are overrated? The same organization that almost paid Nene that huge contract, traded for Pau Gasol, has been slightly above average in drafting.
Okc been a contender for a minute. Don't let that one flaw ruin everything. Lamb is turning out to be good and if we had thabo, he would be buried deep in the bench.
I have seen nada subsequently to believe they have improved themselves. KD's and Russ' continued improvement (the latter stunted by his injury siege) has left a false positive about the overlords. That's how I see it. BTW - - look at last night's conquest of The Heat. Perk's best assistance was from the bench.
Little sense - - because the two main players publicly named in the Asik Sweepstakes were Ainge, DM the GM's former mentor, and Hinkie who helped orchestrate the ultimate reeling in of the #1 FA of the Summer of '13?
1) No, incorrect. Adelman left because Morey kept pushing him to put Finch on his staff, and then groom him to eventually replace him (what kinda ish is that). Adelman wanted to win, Morey grew frustrated due to him not playing the players Morey wanted to play(definite powertrip). 2) If so, I stand corrected. But make no mistake, Daryl Morey wanted a head coach that would allow enough control be GM and coach the team at the same time. 3) Hogwash. Stop placing blame elsewhere. I guess Joey Dorsey's Mchale's fault too, um yea
Do you mean me because I think you're the f%$#king idiot here and you have been for a long time. You fall in love with someone and never look back. You can't see the trees for the forest. Your unending love for PPat is on record as the most ridiculous tirade ever in Clutchfans history. Your love for JVG was even worse and now you can't see any fault in MChale or Morey. Yes other GM's make mistakes but they are not our GM's. I am not asking for Morey's resignation. I think he is one of the best GM's in the league. But that does not clear him from some criticism. The same goes for McHale. And players. It's a forum we voice our opinions here. And I see Morey's mistakes and I do on occassion see his arrogance. His drafting has been questionable at best. ANd he says he will put it up against anyone. That sounds a little arrogant. You can disagree but to act like a fool and think you are flabbergasted and appalled because someone disagrees with you, what's up with that. I almost always disagree with you. Everything about his draft record is true. Why should that upset you. He made some real mistakes. I have said on here many times I think Morey is brilliant at acquiring players. His algorhythms or whatever he uses to evaluate player currently in the NBA seems to work well and he can find undervalued players. That's a plus and gives us an edge. I give him credit for signing Harden and Howard and building the team we currently have. But the reality is in his 8yeaars this team has missed the playoffs 4 years and and only made it out of the first round once. That's nothing to be arrogant about. Yeah there were circumstances but circumstand and a two dollar bill will get you a Blossoming Peach Tea Latte at starbucks.
If vengeance is a motivating factor in whether a GM pulls the trigger on a deal, then that GM doesn't have much of a chance to last in his job.
I thought there was a study that some non-Rocket site did that showed Morey was among the best drafting GMs in the league based on draft pick position.
