More reason for me to like Morey. If every person you negotiate with loves you, you are probably getting less in return.
He also ran off a HOF coach with the best winning% in Rockets history. He's a good GM, not great yet.
Dunno if I believe this. Seems awfully petty for professional managers. Then again, I did listen to a podcast talking about how rumor and gossip have a bigger-than-you'd-think impact in the high level business and government world...
Last decade for sure. But I'd give the edge to Miami now. Besides their obvious trade, they have basically taken a no-name coach, a bunch of has-beens on the bench and corralled some serious talent into 3 straight finals. Meanwhile, the Spurs best move was hold their core together while adding Kawhi Leonard. But you can't ignore the atrocious signing in RJ and inflated deal to Splitter. They owe nearly everything to Pop and Duncan.
I kind of doubt that the "arrogance" deal is more than a small factor in the trade marketplace. First, teams that have done things to garner resentment have not had trouble finding deal-making partners. For example, I am pretty sure no team resents Houston any more than the Cavaliers and Dan "Comic Sans" Gilbert resented the Miami Heat in the summer of 2010-- But Gilbert still arranged for a sign and trade for Lebron James to Miami because it landed his team some assets. Miami also didn't have trouble dumping Michael Beasley's salary (to clear cap room for the Big 3 and the signing of guys like Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem) or making a sign and trade for Chris Bosh in a summer where plenty of teams are jealous/resentful of them. I don't think that the Rockets is anywhere near the villain that Miami was perceived to be back then. Second, while there are probably still some front office people who disliked Morey from day one (because the "analytics movement" threatens the old guard) there are still plenty of teams who would not hesitate to work with Morey. For example, there is now a decent-sized circle of Morey's "friends and associates" among teams. Sam Hinkie in Philly, Ainge & co. in Boston, Ryan McDonough in Phoenix are all former colleagues of Morey. And there are more like-minded people in the NBA who attend the Analytics Conference that Morey hosts every year. Finally, Morey has worked out plenty of trades during his tenture, both when the Rockets were winning 50+ games with Yao and Tracy and when they were rebuilding in years since. Clearly enough people at least like Morey enough (or don't dislike him enough) to make deals with the Rockets if the team needs match.
Didn't say they had, only that it's coming. You can see it clear as day if you step back and look at the big picture.
#1 Please tell me when Rick Adelman was elected to the Hall of Fame #2 How is Adelman doing in Minnesota?
Yeah. Adelman's winning %. That's the argument he used too lol... If that's all the ammo you have for Morey, I'd suggest changing your tune. Or not posting.
Yeah this is mostly b.s. Any team that thinks dealing with houston will improve their team will do it.
