The ultimate prize is Love, as you can see how Dmorey has been steering clear and keepin the FA class of 2015 in his view. He is going to make this team better, but do not expect any superstar to land here before Love makes it clear he isnt coming to Houston.

Morey will make us better, all the while keeping us in the front seat for Love. You can take that to the bank.

The only problem with that trade is lin and Rubio on the same team. Talent wise it's a very fair trade all the way around

A big trade for Love would likely involve a third team, like Chicago, Toronto or Charlotte. Here is one trade the ESPN trade machine approves:

Houston gets: Love, Dunleavy and Shved
Minnesota gets: Lin, Asik, Parsons and Boozer
Chicago gets: Pekovic, Rubio and Motiejunas

Minnesota sheds its big long term contracts, gets some good quality players in return and frees up a lot of space in 2015.

Houston gets its illusive 3rd star, a reserve PG and another shooter

Chicago takes on a big contract in Pekovic, but builds a sizable front line for when Rose gets back to take on Miami and Indiana, gets rid of Boozer, also picks up Rubio to play the point. Lin could go there as well if you rearranged the trade but Rubio is cheaper.

Seriously though **** Omer and his whiny ass ways, we would be straight beating this year with him playing behind Dwight.

Well, this thread seems to have spiritually merged with the Random Trades thread but i'll take a different tack and answer the original question - no, I don't think he's played his LAST game as a Rocket, just maybe his 4th or 5th to last game. I think he'll come back in the next week and a half or so and be showcased for a handful of games and then go bye bye.

Even though Minny isn't in a bargaining position, I think they wait until the offseason before they seriously consider trading Love.

Good point on Boston wanting to dump Wallace. Even then, it still seems like a half-assed rebuilding for Boston. A healthy Asik and Lin (and Jones) would actually win Boston some games paired with Jeff Green and other guys still left on the team, maybe even enough to get them out of the lottery given the weak East.

Jones would be a good upside guy, but they have a few of young PFs that they have hope for already.

For Houston, I wonder if the 3rd year on Wallace is too hefty a price to pay. Remember, Rondo is only signed for 2 years, so if he doesn't fit quite right you can at least preserve cap flexibility for 2015. Wallace has a real impact on their future options. Remember, Morey's goal is to try to win a title, not just collect stars. He needs to preserve as many assets and as much flexibility as possible even if he values Rondo. This is why he negotiated hard even for Harden (OKC wanted an extra pick and Parsons, Morey wouldn't give them).

Morey wants a third top player for sure, but there are still things he wouldn't take on for a guy he wants.

Boston can always flip Asik to the west for quite a nice haul immediately following the Rockets trade, perhaps even as a 3-way. OKC, Phoenix, and Dallas all look like very nice landing spots and Celtics gain another nice pick and/or prospect. Lin's probably untradeable, although if LOFs are correct, he would single handedly make the Celtics a playoff team. But on the off chance they're wrong, Boston should have no problem tanking with Lin/Bradley/Green(also potentially gone)/Bass/Sullinger.

Logically speaking, Morey's best chance at maximizing talent on the roster, ignoring Les' bank account for a second, is to trade for a 3rd star so we can use our MLE in 2014, 2015, and any 1st round picks we still retain during this time. It's not "optimal" to sign Love or anyone else using 2015 cap money. Because we have to get rid of all our players and picks to create that max cap room. Even if Rondo's not the optimal fit, he allows the Rockets to be more flexible in adding talent around the our new big 3 due to not having to worry about the cap. We can bring in Eurostashes, add depth like a Dunleavy. Things that would not be possible if we're set on 2015 FA.

Wallace doesn't really change the Rockets flexibility by going over the cap. He is going to cost Les a lot of money due to the luxury tax, but that's up to Les to eat.

If the Rockets traded Asik to Boston, I don't think Boston is allowed to trade him again before the deadline.

They can, just not as a package with other players. It'd have to be Asik and only picks/cash.

This is a quote from an article about the Dec 19 "deadline".

So if this is correct, Boston could trade him, they would just have limited options.

King Drew who apparently has a family member in the media alludes to the fact that Rondo may be on his way in as Asik is on the way out but literally no one in the media these past few days has even mentioned a rumor involving Rondo to Houston, Drew are these whispers legitimate?
