Yup! everyone knows that they have in the past and it got them nowhere. I highly doubt someone like Morey uses his emotions when making his decisions, I'm pretty sure amnestying Scola probably hurt, but he did it for a good reason.
Well everything is about championships so we should probably win a championship before celebrating too hard. The best run teams could also include MIA, IND, GSW or even LA.
I'm sure the underlying issue here is jealousy and bitterness since DM is notorious for almost always getting the better end of trades. For a while we were just the Houston Treadmill led by a crafty GM that could find undervalued players and make clever trades yet could NEVER attract a major free agent or superstar (Bosh, Melo, Dwightmare Part I, etc). Now, all of a sudden, we're the team that fleeced OKC for James Harden and landed Dwight Howard. The coveted superstar free agent that teams always assumed we could never land. Great GM + newly attractive free agent destination = a GM (and team) that rival exec's do not want to help out.
Every single team in the league could conspire to beat Houston, and it still wouldn't work, at least not at this point. Morey can and will offer Love or Aldridge the max in 2015. He can and will resign Parsons. He has the rights to Papanikolaou and Llull. He has draft picks, MLEs, BAEs, etc. There is nothing that will prevent the coming era minus a devastating injury.
Executives Believe Chris Bosh Most Likely To Leave Heat If Big 3 Breaks Up (via @RealGM) http://t.co/MAWA2G2JzO ^^^ check this out, here's our guy we spoke about before
If this is true, it's kind of stupid. Teams should be worried about doing what is best for them, not about sticking it to Houston.
best run... when was the last WC appearance? Was it with Morey as GM? I can't really remember. Help me out.
Ultimately, if the Rockets have something that will help another team be successful, they will trade with them. Offering bloated contracts for 2nd tier players, usually doesn't attract much. A rebuilding team who is trying to shed salary isn't going to give you Rondo and take on Asik and or Lin's contract because that doesn't make them an instant contender. That being said, no team will be doing the Rockets any favors. When two GMs have a good relationship, it can happen. I don't think there are too many GMs that are fond of Morey. I on the other hand, I love that fat pasty intelligent b*stard, he's sneaky!
This is exactly what bothers me about Morey. I even stated a few months ago, Morey's arrogance will lead to the league resenting him. I'm sure other GM's have been feeling a certain way for awhile. But I knew when reports circulated where other GM's were calling Morey "delusional" for his ridiculous demands for Asik, that the sense was that Daryl Morey is seen like that guy in the room who thinks he's smarter than he actually is. He's a good GM who's had some great moves, and some terrible ones. But his problem is he doesn't know how to keep things under wraps without leaking stuff the media.
Rockets fans talking **** when they are currently the 5th seed in the West? Please. Rockets haven't done anything yet.
LMAO. He rebuild a lotto team to a playoff contender without tanking. He IS smarter than 70% of NBA GMs.
Oh this makes perfect sense. Agent: My guy wants out, I hear Houston is trying to flip Asik... GM: Hey you know that Morey really grinds my gears. Me and some other guys are blackballing him for making us look bad. Plus, I wouldn't want the details of our negotiations to get leaked. You know how hard it is to get a deal done if the press gets word of sensitive details? Agent: Oh ok, it makes sense. GM: ...you won't tell anyone right? Agent: Me? Why would an agent ever talk to the press? ............................ Agent: Hello, Yahoo? Its me, multiple sources!
