Not saying you are wrong, but McHale has more coaching experience than all of cfans combined. Coach makes a concerted effort to feed Dwight early because he believes it will mold us into a championship squad.

If there are bumps along the way, so what? You've got to trust the process and follow through. Where would we be if Morey deviated from his master plan just because people criticized stockpiling 2nd rounders and whiffing on practically the entire 2009 draft class?

Set a course, make it happen

Interview this morning on 790 with Morey

    http://www.sports790.com/media/podc...views/rockets-gm-daryl-morey-on-pgs-24220143/

    Enjoy

Not much to note in this interview-

-Talks about Parsons getting some respect from national writers, and how he's on the cusp of being that third allstar
-talks about wierd schedule with playing the Grizzlies twice coming up
-talks about how the Rockets are not only the youngest of the contending teams in the West, but also their veterans like Lin and Bev still have very little experience which can contribute to some up and down play

No morey today friedman took over guys

790 – what a win yesterday we broke the losing streak in dallas
Friedman - the game was almost on the line with jose one of the best 3pointers in the NBA misses 2 in a row.

790- we got a lot of effort from everybody DMO stepped up had the team leading 13 rebounds. We had parsons leading the scoring which were starting to see more often. But UMM yesterday parsons had some interesting comments after the game.

790- “plays parsons audio of his comments after the game” parsons: when he’s in we usually go one on one more we give him the ball a lot, but when hes out we run our sets more & its more of a balanced attack, “not to be negative way or anything” we

790- I don’t think think anything was out of line but I can see people being frustrated even Kevin says it all the time the ball gets sticky, and parsons is a guy who can score at a high level but he moves the ball around.

Friedman – well we see this a lot all over the nba this isn’t anything new around the NB. “Im not putting harden in this class” but people said the same thing about Jordan, kobe, and they said the same thing about westbrook & Durant in OKC. So I think it’s difficult for younger players. This is only year 2 for harden being the man so harden needs to find the balance of how to do both & balance his game. I think there’s no question we can improve here but I think james is trying to figure it out and the team is around him is trying to figure it out as well. Sometime it works great like james carrying us 2 games in SA but sometimes we see the ball get sticky and it cost us games. So it’s just nees to balance.

Friedman- LIN stepped up he showed that he can still be good when he is aggressive even though he went in a slump after his injury before that he was doing great. We need him to attack move the ball if hes starting or the 6th man. He needs to just go when hes in the game.

790- if you could fix 2 things to make this team a real playoff team that could go deep what would you do ?

Friedman- 1. well when asik was off the floor last year our defense went down and rebounds. But that was supposed to be fixed with asik this year and we still don’t have a time table on him. So a healthy asik can fix that for sure with his defense and rebounding. Those 10-15 mins or more if howard needs rest or is on foul trouble really can cost of a playoff game. Every play counts if we gets stops we still have to have someone who can get the rebound the paint.

    2. we are elite offensively we take a lot of 3s but we haven’t been consistent form 3, if we had a 3 & D guy I feel like that would be great. Not only score but play great D on the perimeter.

I know I’m being greedy but If some way we could fix both of those things I feel like this team has a chance to go far no matter who we face in the playoffs.

Friedman- like morey likes to say this one of the youngest NBA team,s this team is going to make mistakes and going to make dumb mistakes. But they have to learn from them. We want them to grow up so quick, so like yesterday watching those plays at the end can be tough. But at the end of the day they are 31-17 now and they’ve put themselves in a position to be right in the middle of the west. They have so much room to grow and I think that really is the exciting thing going forward. They’ve had all these bumps in the road so now we have to see if they can learn and get better from having to deal with them.

I know there are other threads floating around with this theme, but - - I remember before the Bulls became GREAT MJ had to become more than just a great scorer. Da Bulls were without their PG and MJ moved over for the rest of that season.

It was as if the light came on and MJ could see all things basketball more clearly. Then he morphed into the MJ of lore and the Bulls won 6 rings (oh how I wish MJ had been there from the start in '94-'95 and the Rox hadn't blown the 3-1 lead v Sonics making the '97 Jazz series losable. Oh, how I wish...).

I am not suggesting JH13 take the point, tho I think it might be beneficial for parts of games, but I am hoping that his sideline seat might provide sightlines into how better he could incorporate his greatness synergistically with his team.

I'm not a fan of Dwight going one on one either, his post ups shouldn't involve more than one or two dribbles, and we should see more ball movement in and out the post.

Something that bugs me about the Rockets' handling of Dwight is that they'll often pass it to him in the post and then the passer will immediately run past Dwight, which brings his defender down there also, so at the moment Dwight really needs to make a quick move at the basket, he can't because the paint is clogged with both teammates and opponents. I'm not an expert so maybe there's a very good reason for these plays, but it looks to me like it takes time off the shot clock while the Rockets get their spacing fixed and the defense gets to set up for Dwight better.

Cutting off the post entry is the most standard and widely accepted way of giving your post man the opportunity to work in space. If you didn't cut off the pass, the defender would be "digging" at your post the whole possession, and very very few NBA big men can deal with pesky NBA guards off the dribble.

One thing they do at times is having the passer who runs past Dwight suddenly stop and set a screen on Dwight's defender, thus freeing Dwight up.

I noticed that too. When the entry passer makes that baseline cut he's supposed to get a layup if his man pays too much attention to Dwight. When executed properly its kind of like an inverse Pick & Roll with Dwight hitting the cutter. The key is Dwight shouldn't start his move until the space is cleared out and he can go one-on-one.

Another thing I've noticed with the way our offense handles Dwight is don't let him re-post when he doesn't get initial position deep enough. I remember in the Shaq, Dream, Ewing days you'd give your big guy the ball and if he didn't like the spot he was in he'd throw it right back to the guard, get a couple feet closer to the rim and call for the ball back. The post defender almost always relaxes a little bit once the big man makes that initial pass. Thats when your big can get a little closer to the rim without fighting through a double team or worrying about losing the ball. As a rule Shaq never attempted a post-move unless he had one foot in the paint on the catch. Thats a great rule of thumb for any post player without a fadeaway/turnaround shot. Sometimes I think Dwight is so excited to get the ball in the post he'll start his move whether or not he has great position.

A good observation. I have been puzzled by it for a while as well.
