This among other things is why I'm at the hangout these days. As you guys know its on a game to game basis....Lin has a good game and he is the man and Bev should ride the pine....Bev has a good game and Lin is trash. Do people not realize that there are 82 games in a season and that they will have good and bad games and its all part of the cycle? But we all knew the kneejerk is strong on CF.
I'm sorry but if you watched last night's game then clearly Lin should be starting with Beverly and Harden needs to come off the bench when he returns.
Wherever Lin plays, there will be strong "kneejerk". When he leaves the Rockets, the GARM will calm down some and improve slightly. All NBA forums are "kneejerk", but Lin's presence on the Rockets takes it to an over-the-top, insane level.
Yeah I lurked on CF for a while before becoming a member and I do remember a more peaceful time lol now its chaos
My theory is that because Lin's path to the NBA has been so filled with obstacles ie the no scholarships, undrafted, etc etc... it's like the movie Rocky, where he is the underdog fighting impossible odds. So when more obstacles arise (eg. McHale etc...), some feel the need to 'defend' him so to speak. Oh, look, Apollo Creed, and what's that Russian guy in Rocky 3? And there are some who go out of their way to inflame certain 'discussions'. That's my 2 cents.
Ugh youre right its gonna be bad....there was a little last season at the end and preseason this year but if D-Mo keeps playing well off the bench were gonna have a bad time on CF
Your theory is wrong. It's because Lin is Asian. That's why he is "defended" so much, often in reactionary, harsh and just plane lunatic ways. There have been countless stories of NBA players overcoming odds. Lin is just one of many. If Lin was black, white or Euro, the brain flaming wouldn't be anything close to this. Yao's path to the NBA was totally opposite Lin yet it caused the same exact environment in the GARM. It was actually worse in some ways.
As much as people will come on here and deny that statement its true....there havent been many Asian NBA players much less successful ones so when there is one people latch on for better or worse
Oh they will definitely work their way out sometime next week. I have total, unwavering, über confidence in that.
Kudus for having the stones to post that. Although I'd wager a beer that someone is going to infer that you're being racist. People need to take a step back, try to remove emotion from the equation and look at the big picture. Pat himself has a good underdog story. Avery Johnson is another. Heck look at Case Keenum over on the Texans. Lin's is great too but it's not the sole reason he's so polarizing.
Race has nothing to do with it. If Lin sucked absolute donkey balls, and was still this popular, then yes it would be because of his race. But that's not the case.
