    Anyone else have that one woman that got away, whether it be because you were too chicken to make a move or she was taken?

    She was taken in my case. I gave some hints that I liked her more than a friend. But she was already in a 3-4 yr relationship which is now 6 years and counting.

    I thought she was the one that got away, she was married, 26 or 27, I was 22 when I thought things were starting to form. She was my former boss, I had left the company. She was going through a divorce, we clicked on almost all cylinders. We hung out a lot just us two, even though she was married, the fact that she was getting a divorce kind of made it seem like she wasnt taken, you know?

    Anyway we would go "hangout" maybe once or twice a week, everyone knew I liked her. Dinners, Moody Gardens, Hookah sessions, all just us two. I being the young kid I was thought this was awesome. She told me though that she wasnt looking to date or anything, but if she was into dating, we would definitely be doing that.

    I took that as whatever and was just happy to be spending so much time with her. We never kissed or anything, but I felt the bond we had was something more than just petty bf/gf stuff anyway (or atleast had potential to be) so I just kept on trucking along. Until the point of which my hormones kicked in and I wanted more. She told me no, and that she had already been upfront with me about it (usually words arent as strong as body language, but I guess in her case, she either didnt know what she wanted, or she was just a terrible speaker body language wise).

    My heart was broken over something that never existed. Potential wifey material is all I could see (she was beyond what the woman of my dreams ever was, so to speak). We cut ties, I deleted all contact info from her as to make sure I never could get a hold of her in a state of weakness. I had to use her for a reference once or twice from there, and she did contact me to let me know she put in a good word for me.

    After that I had a mutual friend I would hang out with who told me she had done a complete 180. She was no longer to modest, isolated woman I once knew, but was now out enjoying her single life to the extreme. This woman who I thought I had fallen for, was no longer the same woman I knew.

    So to put an end to this story, I dont know if she was the one that got away, as I have no idea if this person was real when I knew her, or only a front of what she thought she should be, and is now the true person that she wants to be. In either case, the woman that I wanted no longer exists.

    TLDR;
    My former boss was an amazing woman. she was married, getting a divorce, we kicked it for a few months until she decided I would forever be friendzoned. I cut ties, she got her divorce, and now turns up on a weekly basis. She is not the same woman I knew.

    I had it happen a few weeks ago. It was because she wrestled free before I could get the cuffs on her and throw her into my van. :(

    I did. I dated her in high school. I fell in puppy high school love with her. She dumped me out of the blue over the phone. It absolutely crushed me. I thought about it for years.

    I ran into her 4-5 years later and asked her out. We went on a few dates and I realized she wasn't that special. She wasn't someone I wanted to be around. She was boring and had the sense of humor of a dry sponge. I stopped contacting her after the 2nd date. I never think about her anymore. It is a nice personal victory.

    Hahaha it is actually true. I was an awkward virgin in high school. I got laid and grew out of my awkward stage and finally started dating around. She was only special because I lacked variety and experience.

    If you were never with her, i'm not sure i'd call that the one that got away. Every guy is going to have girls they wished they had asked out or been with. That doesn't mean it would have worked out. I think the only exception would be someone you knew extremely well and for long time.

    I dated a girl 2 years while in the Army then one day she up and left me (about 3 months before I went to Afghanistan)....I was 18 when we started dating so I didnt really have too much experience in the "love" department so it screwed with me for several months and one day as I was sitting in an outpost I just said F*** it and that was that lol . In the 3 years since I definately have a new perspective on relationships

    Met her in high school through a mutual friend, which was her neighbor,(we went to different schools), we were both single, I loved talking to her. I was also talking to a girl at my high school so I didn't know what to do. Her neighbor told me to ask her out before someone else did, but I didn't listen. About a month went by and the neighbor again told me to talk to the girl, or she was gonna date someone else (some dude asked her to homecoming). I told the mutual friend (her neighbor) that it's high school, nothing lasts forever. If she dates some other guy, I'll just wait for them to break up.

    Well, that was about 8 years ago, they never broke up, and now they're engaged.

    Sometimes I feel like I'm just in love, or heavily infatuated, with the idea of her. Maybe it's just because I screwed up so bad that I feel this way, but she seems too perfect. I wish I could go back and kick myself in the balls for trying to make her wait while I tried to w**** around my own high school.
