This sounds crazy but James Harden should be the 6th man...

The post you were replying to suggests Harden facilitates more than anyone else on this team, and you retorted by saying "except for times when he doesn't".

No fallacy, just pointing out how meaningless your statement was.

Ok, nevermind. It is my fault for saying I agreed with Nook.

Even then, someone can choose to play a certain style while he or she cannot choose to score the basket 100% of the time.

My statement was towards Harden's personal choices than his ability as a player. I apologize for not reading Nook's post and confusing people.

What you just said was that we should take 10 minutes from James Harden and give them to Jeremy Lin, which is r****ded.

What you meant to say is that Patrick Beverley should be playing with Jeremy Lin every minute that James Harden is out, which makes much more sense and doesn't require Harden coming off the bench.

I agree. His idea is a bit silly.

This is a good idea since both players need the ball to be as effective as they can be. LeBron would dominate the 2nd units on teams, and this would allow him to not have to play so many minutes.

In terms of theory, Mario Chalmers and Dwyane Wade actually makes a good backcourt and LeBron in the starting lineup drains both of their abilities.

If LeBron came off the bench, they'd actually be deadly for 48 minutes of the game.

I know this will never happen though, but it's a good idea in theory.

If Harden were still in OKC, he'd still play 6th man. His defense isn't getting any better. It just depends on situations...if Ginobilli were in most other teams, he'd be a max level star.

Lowry/Dragic are in situations utilizing their skills, and they've posted similar PER as Harden this season with better deffense.

Feelings don't make it true...facts do. Fact is that Harden is averaging less time possessing the ball per minute played than Lin or Brooks. During each of those minutes played Harden is also assisting at a higher rater than Lin.

For each minute played, Harden is getting more baskets for his teammates than anyone on the team. Might not seem that way to you but it is a fact.

You can choose to bury your head in the sand and disregard the facts but what you think you see and what is actually happening aren't always the same.

Did you ever see Larry Bird play defense? How about Charles Barkley? Nash? Magic?

Terrible thread. We have the same strategy going already. Harden > Lin so that means Harden starting > Lin starting.

Lin is great in certain situations, but Harden is better in more types of situations.

I was actually surprised about this, but I confirmed this is the case.

Lin's time of possession per minute played is well below average for typical starting PGs, though.

Curry?? He's horrible at defense, but he's the golden boy for this year. So I guess his minutes should go down too right? (I know the person I'm responding too didn't make this ridiculous statement, I'm just adding to your list).

I like it. Give Howard, TJ, Parsons, and Lin 7 minutes to warm up before Harden comes in and goes ISO mode for the majority of the game.

#1 Harden's defense has improved as his feet and ankles have improved, amazing how that works.
#2 He doesn't need to share his scoring load, he is extremely efficient and does not take too many shots. Hell in most other systems he would be shooting more.
#3 The Rockets do not ISO Harden as much as you think, and the advanced statistics spell that out. Having said that, there is no proof that ISO's demotivates other players.
#4 "Sets a bad example", the Rockets are adults, not 12 year old children.

    It is simple.

Harden is the best scorer and creator for himself and others on the team.
