I agree; there are many economic variables to the argument.

Bravo, Representative Stockman, Bravo. You showed Barack the (lack of) respect that he has fully earned through his failed policies.

Stockman walks out of State of the Union

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) said Tuesday night that he left President Obama's State of the Union speech early after "hearing how the president is further abusing his Constitutional powers."

"I could not bear to watch as he continued to cross the clearly-defined boundaries of the Constitutional separation of powers," Stockman said in a press release shortly after Obama's speech ended. "Needless to say, I am deeply disappointed in the tone and content of tonight's address."

Stockman said Obama was promising to "break his oath of office and begin enacting his own brand of law through executive decree."
"This is a wholesale violation of his oath of office and a disqualifying offense," the Texas congressman said.

Stockman also criticized Obama for refusing to admit "his policies have failed," and for advancing a plan for more taxes and spending that is a "blueprint for perpetual poverty."

    Oh stockman? The "shady" politician?

Texas Tea Party lynch mob is already attacking him. Pure stunt for re election. Shameful and you should not let the media and your biases influence your opinion so greatly, think for yourself!

Also, what a perfect representation of republicans in congress. When someone, especially Obama, has something they don't like they just walk away. Great leader.

I think it shows how full of **** Republicans are. They hate small government, unless it's to impose their religious beliefs on everyone else.

Remember in 2012 when many on this board, and many Republicans stopped believing in scientific polls and thought Mitt Romney was going to win?

The celebrity the Republicans brought with them to this year's state of the union was a guy from Duck Dynasty.

The state of affairs for the GOP right now is extremely low.

It is a pity that the state of the union address is nothing more than a pep really to rehash policy initiatives for the 5th year in a row. If these were such popular initiatives, and the President could actually govern, then wouldn't these measures have become reality by year 5? We all know the answer to that, obviously. It would be refreshing for a President to rise above politics and give a humble, honest assessment of the state of the union. Last night was merely repeating talking points and playing us versus them. This has to be a disappointment for Obama supporters, as the person they thought they were voting in in 2008 was a transcendent politician who would be able to unite. What we saw last night (and the last 5 years), was nothing more than a very common politician. More of the same. What a missed opportunity.

About damn time. Give the Republicans the "tyrant" they've been dreading---the figure in the White House doing what he is supposed to do, instead of the president who has governed by not governing.

more oversight on the NSA, more protections for LGBT workers, a better living wage, and drop the damn pleases.

Walking out on the President, threatening to throw someone off a balcony.

Ladies and gentleman that's the face of an America under Republican control right there.

Kinda crazy how divided this country is. Intelligent, rational, productive conversation of the issues and our ability to reach compromises with them no longer exist. Both sides stick to attacking the other side, simply looking to discredit them and blame America's problem on them. This isn't Obama's fault only, though he's had as much fault in this as W did, but if this isn't fixed soon, I fear what this may mean for the country. Things have got to change, and urgently.

and some still wonder why the President is going to take more executive action with "partners" on the other side that display such mannerisms.

I don't care about Stockman's attempt to get media attention by walking out. I don't give him credit for it. It was what it was and it worked.

That said, I don't think we should put the president on some pedestal where members of Congress are supposed to sit like school children listening to the headmaster attentively. Honestly if I were in Congress and didn't have a seat in danger for an election, I wouldn't even bother to show up.

The state of the Union is nothing more than a pep rally, and it's an expensive one at that. Politicians just don't have enough opportunities in today's world to play dress up, use platitudes, praise the troops and throw out applause lines for the tv.
