This was the scene from Lake Conroe this AM: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/AzsyuFJIBpY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The West and South side will have it best. Just 60 miles East of downtown it's 26 degrees, for example, and won't get back above freezing until tomorrow afternoon.
LOL. But seriously, some day I hope to ice fish. And you can be sure if I pulled something out that big I would be screaming like the camera guy did.
Learned my lesson last week. Ended up at work by 11:15 and wanted to puke for the entire time I was here. Nearly poured me a whiskey & Sprite last night when I got home, but thought better of it.
Frank Billingsly is just the worst. I do not see sun or a temp. of 36 degrees. It's still sleeting, still below freezing. His body must not have been ready.
Well the point was to avoid traffic accidents, which could lead to damage and death/injury. It was a success based on that criteria. The ice was there just like last week, but since there was less traffic and drivers were probably more careful, there weren't as many problems.
In Feb. 2011 there was a similar case of a botched forecast. NWS predicted 1-3 inches of snow and all we got was freezing rain and a flurry or two. Turns out the freezing rain caused so much more icing than snow would have so it's good to be cautious.
There's accidents everyday, regardless of weather. There were not as many road closures today as there were last Friday (as there wasn't as much ice or precipitation period) yet the amount of closures were significantly more (with many making the decision to close yesterday afternoon).
