Funny bc I work, play ball, workout, have a baby, a wife, dine out frequently, party some...AND I still have time to play games.

You just made the case to get a XB. XB Go to Forza. XB Watch TV. XB You're the ish.

It's much easier to play a game here and there while switching back and forth from TV, apps, etc.

This is not news. The XB has its pros. The PS4 has its pros. The Sony guys just seem super vocal about talking down on the XB. I mention that NFL games can be viewed at 60 FPS. One of my boys instantly downplays it and says "unlikely."

If games running at 1080p and 60FPS vs games at 720p and 30FPS isnt showing a clear performance gap than I don't know what to tell you.

Are you sure you are not one of those forum fanboys who claim they have the other system so they can't be possibly be labeled biased? ;)

Also you brought up the car analogy not me. I guess by your point all car manufactures can just manufacturer base models of everything cause people couldn't possibly want better performance. Luxury car manufacturers should all just go out of business and we should all just drive Chevy's because it still gets us from point A to point B.

I have weird memory. He said that he was getting both consoles a long time ago.

I was gonna do the same thing but I don't see the need for it really.

yup Sony has it's pros and XB has it's pros.. you decide on what's most important to you...

Also everyone is different but I'm in tinmans boat. I don't have the time and effort to invest a crazy amount of time playing, learning and mastering games these days. It's not like when you were in high school or college and you played into the wee hours of the night/morning. Occasionally there will be a game that get's me hooked and I cant put it down but for the most part I'm just not as invested anymore. Games like Mass Effect 3 take way too much time and I ended up not finishing it. I finally just finished Grand Theft Auto 5 and that became rather dull in the end also.

yup i may eventually get a Xb1 .. dont see the need right now.. I did end up getting a 360 last gen when the price dropped and there were some games I wanted to play..

But definitely agree no need to own both systems now. Or either system for that fact. Ps3/360 are still plenty good for now :)

Live television and even movies are filmed at just slightly below 30fps. The reason your friend is skeptical is because you're inaccurate. Anything beyond 30fps is a unique case, like I believe the Hobbit movies are filmed at 45fps (which some people love and others hate).

The "well, I don't see a difference" argument is one that isn't worth discussing, unless you can somehow translate that into numbers/something we can objectively measure. For all I know, your eyes can't see the difference between the PS3 and PS4 versions of Battlefield 4. In that case, there's no way the PS4 version of anything will show differences that are noticeable to you.

I'll stick to the objective technical differences (and how that compares to the differences in the 360/PS3 generation or others). If those differences don't actually mean much to someone, that's their own opinion, but I'm not going to bother discussing opinions here. IMO 1080p and/or a 10-20 FPS gap are quite substantial. For others, those differences aren't really that big of a deal. People like me can be called fanboys, and people like me will call the other group fanboys as well. How fun.

    Other notes:

    * I've been crazy busy. I actually have a huge PS4 backlog that I will likely never get through.

    * Why am I the only one that has bothered to play Warframe? If your PS4 is collecting dust, give it a shot. My PS4 backlog got so bad BECAUSE of Warframe.

    * Why do people enjoy talking about their consoles that they barely use? "Hey, I spent $400+, and it was a horrible idea! Just thought I'd mention it."

    * I like turtles.

Sports are generally around 30fps I think. There are some 60 FPS streams of sports events though. But I think in some cases, they're just sending duplicate frames (it is still 30 FPS at the source, but you're getting 60 frames a seconds technically speaking). I'm not sure what the case will be for the NFL games.

That's why I prefer Steam. Games that have a start and can end in an hour or two are my favorite type. Binding of Isaac, Faster Than Light, Dota 2, LoL. Or 3DS which I can just flip on and game when I got free time on the go. I don't need an expensive gaming system to get my fix and I get a unique gaming experience with almost every play through.

watching movies at high framerates vs playing games is quite a different experience. People did not like the Hobbit at high frame rates because of what people termed the soap opera effect which they thought detracted from the cinematic experience. It's totally different with gaming. You would be hard press to find someone who doesn't prefer higher resolutions and ultra smooth high frame rates. Which is why there is an obsession among pc gaming folks on benchmarks and getting the best graphics cards to drive high res and super high frame rates.

That depends on your individual needs. I love my casual games when I'm sitting around waiting for something or need a quick break. But there are some games that you shouldn't miss. Uncharted series, GTA, Last of Us, Metal Gear series, etc, etc are just epic gaming experiences.

I admit, Warframe might be somewhat love it/hate it (and it still needs more polish...which it is getting). It also has a HUGE learning curve (aided by the online Wikis). But it is F2P, and if you like it like I do, you will be able to spend a ton of hours on it.

Warframe > Titanfall for me. :)

edit: Crap, I wasn't suppose to say that name! It is like Beetlejuice or Candyman! We're all DOOMED!

    Like Blu-ray.

Then why... do you have it? I remember you said the same thing about the PS3.

Heck, I'm an absolute game addict, and I haven't bought a PS4 or XB1 yet. Why would you rush out to buy both?

This is beating a dead horse...Im talking about the capabilities of the system...the xbox is capable. It will all come down to software, not hardware. And we are far away from being able to determine anything about either console. The PS4 exclusives like Uncharted are going to blow **** out of the water...the question is how many of these kinds of titles will there be and will they outweigh whatever XB brings to the table. Too early to say anything.

As far as the consoles are concerned, I planned on getting the PS4 over the summer but was able to get it sooner. The only reason I dont use it is because I already have my tv running through the Xbox, so apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc... all require my XBox to be involved. The seamless switching is awesome though and I wouldnt have it any other way.

I can see myself getting a Vita and enjoying that aspect of the system...that's the only part of the PS4 that really entices me at this point. But, that will have to wait a little while until there are games that Im interested in.

cause he may not actually have bought it or own it.. It's very common among console fan boys to claim they have said system and then say "I NEVER PLAY IT AND IT JUST SITS THERE COLLECTING DUST" to try and prove that the other system is better cause they have both and one just collects dust. Not saying that's the case here but it usually is the case when a person just starts attacking one system and saying it's crap.. my questions to them is always why did you buy it then?

I can admit I'm biased or prefer the PS4 cause that's the system I bought and spent $400 bucks on. So obviously in my opinion I feel the PS4 is the superior system.

okay i give up.. you are the one that is beating the dead horse over and over.. and then beating it some more till it's a bloody pulp of a mess.
You are talking about CAPABILITIES... ACCEPT THIS FACT... THE PS4 IS THE MORE CAPABLE SYSTEM WHEN IT COMES TO GRAPHICS. END OF ARGUMENT. please no more beating the poor horse.. it's had enough..

My family all knew I was wanting to buy a PS4 at some point...they were able to secure one and surprised me with it. I wanted to wait until a little later, but I have no issues having one sooner. :) In general, I am a tech junkie and if I spend any money, it's usually just to add gadgets to my apartment. For instance, I have an Ipad2, Ipad 3, an Ipad mini, and just got an Ipad Air. Dont ask me why...I just cant help myself. I know Im wasting money, but I like it. Just like I buy a ton of books just to add to my collection in the event I feel like getting around to it. If my wife can spend $800 on a pair of shoes, I have no guilty feelings about my expenses. ;)

I used my PS3 for Uncharted, Gran Turismo, and Infamous. The PS3 games I had were more geared towards single player action...and I generally like playing online. Therefore, last gen, I spent the majority of multiplat games on the xbox, but played my single player games on the PS3. If PS comes out with a legit multiplayer FPS, then Im on it in a heartbeat. My issue with the PS3 is that I would play games without much replay value, so it was basically one and done.

It's completely unnecessary to have both systems right now...and really, having one of the systems at this point is more of novelty than a necessity. I do think that when March rolls around, having a system becomes a necessity.

Yes, it has potential to be more capable.

also.. sorry about the caps :) Yes xbox is capable and it's a fine system but the PS4 is more capable and my point is you can already see it in the current crop of games on both systems. This will continue to be the case.

    Assassins Creed PS4 > XB1
    Tomb Raider PS4 > XB1
    Battlefield PS4 > XB1
    COD PS4 > XB1

coincidence? luck? developers dont like XB1? most likely not.. comes down to what you said.. CAPABILITIES. PS4 is the more capable system.

You can go back to the original Sega Geneisis vs Super Nintendo. Both systems were plenty capable like you said but games on the Super Nintendo through it's life cycle just looked and performed a bit better when it came to graphics. Notice I highlighted graphics because there are some things the XB1 does better.. like media..
So yes XB1 is plenty capable and more capable in other areas. But when it comes to graphics/hardware PS4 is superior. My last post to you on this topic.
