Been sleeting in N. Austin for some time. Most districts delayed openings. Not Round Rock, though. Nope...wife and kids still expected on time. Only got an email this morning to be careful on the roads.
Perhaps the laws of physics cease to exist on your roads. Was this magic ice? Did you buy it from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?
The problem is, if they got it wrong this time... People will be less likely to trust the weather reports the next time. That being said, mostly everybody followed these "projections" as gospel, and are now scratching their heads.
We were more or less given a choice to come in. Since I live relatively close to work, I decided I'd put in a few hours, at least. Get here and there are maybe 10 cars in the parking lot. Can't say I'm surprised though.
Should be fully hitting anytime after 8am. Im getting ready for work now. Luckily I am driving the work truck.
Be careful what you wish for. We should get in the 20s Wednesday, but then head back down after that. We have been attempting a remodel of our screened porch into an office, but they have yet to be able to start due to the cold. It has been delayed almost 3 weeks already. And Paul Douglas said that January was supposed to be much warmer than December....
Funny. Round Rock decided to wait until after elementary schools were to start to announce a 2 hr delay. Didn't appear we'd get it as bad as the Houston area but it's turning out to be a fairly nasty morning here.
The temp will drop drastically once the rain starts. I think it will be a pretty nasty situation starting around 11-12 today.
Then afternoon, when the rain stops, the sun will come out and melt anything that has frozen. I'm looking at the forecast and it doesn't even say it will be freezing anymore today weather.com for NW Houston). It'll be cold tomorrow morning, but if the rain stops by noon like they are saying, should be fine to drive home and back in tomorrow.
The news is all, "hard to imagine it getting into freezing temperatures today" [whisper voice]. Then, "BUT HOLY **** IMAGINE IF IT DID!!! WE WOULD ALL BE ****ED. DEAR GOD NOOOOOO." Okay...?
Yea I think a few of us are in that position right now. I am sitting at work (not working) lol. Kinda hungover a little bit. I was really hoping we would wake up to a much bigger storm coming in here but looks as if it is much ado about nothing right now. Obviously things can change rapidly but so far it looks like a busted forecast. At least in terms of the severity of the storm. We will probably still see a little sleet/ice but nothing like last Friday.
Any Houstonians disappointed that it isn't snowing in Houston are welcome to the snow in my yard. Just bring your own wheelbarrow and a six pack of St. Arnold's.
This guy in Brenham on channel 11, I want him to put that thermometer on a chain and be the weatherman version of Flavor Flav.
Cancelled at 9. Made the elementary and middle school parents and teachers go out before delaying this morning. Now making the parents go out again. The sleet has stopped but the roads are a mess all over the city. RRISD simply f***ed this up badly.
