if you have ever taken a tour they brag that UH was open the day after hurricane ike

a couple of years ago a student died on the way to school during one of these winter weather advisory watches, i'm sure that has curtailed their open/closed policy

most professors understand, just email them now and let them know you are concerned for your safety and won't be in class

They said that their buildings are going to stay open. No news yet about class cancellations, though.

So my boss is giving me the guilt trip on coming in. I live across from Memorial Park and work on the east side of town near the ship channel. I didn't watch the news, but are the overpasses expected to turn to ice during the day? I'm not going to go into work and not be able to make it home.

Yep. People who go to work in the morning will think it's nothing outside. Because the worst doesn't look like it'll happen till they are at work.... Then have issues get home.

I wish that was the weather in Minnesota. It is going to be -23 air temperature tonight.

Woohoo no classes! Now I don't have to wait up for my 8:30 class... Thank you Houston and your random 30 degree weather with just enough danger to cancel class.

Watching the news. So far, not a spec of precipitation has fallen anywhere in Houston.

Looking like I'm going to have to go to work now. Wish I didn't drink so much last night thinking I would be able to sleep in.

I was already given the day off, so I don't care at this point. Thank you, weather!

Unless water freezes at 38 degrees, they should be fine

I'm one of the unlucky ones where my job literally won't decide on whether you are coming in until about 1 minute before you need to be at the office.
