And once again, You kill your credibility every time you do this. I don't agree with the man, but you dismiss everyone who comes out saying something you don't agree with. You can't dismiss his piece as "Fluff stuff" then say you respect his opinion.
Nothing against Gil Brandt but he is 900 and 80 years old. And it is fluff stuff, he doesn't say anything about his skills that will transfer to the NFL he just says he is a great cheerleader and he gives 110%. I agree with that but it doesn't make him NFL qb material. Where's the substance? Almost all the people who like Bridgewater have watched many videos of Bridgewater and seen with thier own eyes the things he does on and off the field that make him special. Bernie Kosar says,"the plays he made with his feet, with his escapability and with his touch very rarely do you have a kid at his stage that can do that." Brett Kollman says, "Teddy Bridgewater is a football Savant." and the only college QB that could come running and get O'Brien's offense. NFL Analyst Sean King said, Teddy Bridgewater he's number one QB and if you actually evaluate the film and look at the attributes that make a QB successful in the NFL it is not even close... Bridgewater is a plug and play, can take over your franchise day one. Chris Weinke says, "I think he’s a perfect fit. He’s the type of guy that doesn’t have to say a whole lot, but I think will got into a locker room and gain respect immediately... He’s the total package. He has the ability to do all the things they’re gonna do at the next level. His QB coach Watson said, it is Bridgewater’s always-working mind that sets him apart. He’s a bit of savant that way. After every series, Watson and Bridgewater go over each play. He has instant recall of the coverages. When the team installs the top 25 plays for each game plan, Bridgewater barks out the play from memory before Watson can look down at his playsheet. “I swear he has a photographic memory,” Watson said. “He’s extremely intelligent.” Ben Fennell said, "Bridgewater played both undercenter & gun snaps, pro style PA pass game, fluid in his timing/rhythmic pass game.. Sees field extremly well... Love how Bridgewater uses athleticism to be a passer..Great feel for the rush-steps up/slides & enough speed for escapability outside pocket... FYI-working for NFL I barely watch any college throughout the year... These opinions are off the tape & with a clean slate & open mind... didnt expect to be this impressed. Ben Fennell went on to say Manziel lacked touch/accuracy on vertical pass game. Can improv & make things happen-but that doesnt make him NFL QB... Manziel is a serious product of being faster than opponents, with incredible oline, and a great 1on1 WR... Absolutely absurd that people have Manziel graded as top QB prospect in this class..Cant just watch highlight packages. As fun as they are... These are all people who have watched a lot Bridgewater and I am only covering a fraction of the positives they have to say about him. So Brandt may be smart but IMO he hasn't completed his homework. It's not enough to say Manziel gives a 110% if he still comes up short. (no pun intended)
I've always heard with age comes wisdom... With that said _ Gil has more credibility than the guys you listed. Gil also touched on Johnny's accuracy and ball placement and how the talent around Johnny wasn't that good (the same thing people say about Teddy).and how he can go through progressions and look off defenders. What else is it you want him to say...???
I have to agree with Remii on this one. Manziel is athletic and amazingly elusive. Best I've ever seen in a college QB. And while he may not be quite as effective running in the pros, he is too good at it not to believe some of it will not transfer. That being said his size and inability to show consistently he can handle pressure and stay in the pocket is a big question mark.
First with age comes wisdom but also alzheimers and senility. Second just because you have some credibility doesn't give you a pass on doing your homework. Mr. Brandt loses credibility when he says he didn't have the talent around him. He has the best OLine in the country and the best 1 on 1 receiver in Mike Evans. You can argue the degree if you want but that's top level talent no question. Now if he means TAM's defense sucked that's a different story but has nothing to do with Manziel. He doesn't say anything with real substance. How does Manziel get from being this creative elusive QB to a successful pocket QB in the NFL. Up until the Duke game he showed almost nothing. The Duke made me think it's possible but he is still a risk. If you can't admit that than you are just fooling yourself. And don't come back with everyone's a risk or Russell Wilson's doing it. Yeah everyone is a risk but if they show you some success doing something repeatedly the risk is lessened. As Russell Wilson, he showed much more as a pocket QB coming out of college than Manziel ever has. I'm not saying Manziel can't have some success. He may have a lot of success but you say he is the best QB prospect if you do not at least acknowledge why he is better than the field. Otherwise it's just another Old Man's opinion.
Gil referred to his accuracy, ball placement, and being able to look off defenders. That's substance, IMO. And all though you and others don't agree but compared to the rest of the SEC _ Johnny has about as much talent around him as Teddy. That is not the best offensive line in the country and Evans is no where close to being the best receiver... Sammy Watkins holds that crown. And on top of that, Johnny was always under pressure to score and produce because his defense was terrible. Johnny couldn't go out there and play the way Teddy did against a good opponent like Houston and expect his team to win a game. Rice could have probably beating (or came real close) A&M if Johnny had sat out that entire game. Gil mentioned the talent Johnny had around him wasn't that good and that's substance, IMO... Substance is a point of view. Just like you and others bring up how Teddy played in a pro style offense and called plays. That's substance. But I bring up he played a lot of Jr college caliber teams, so him playing in a pro style offense only shows he can learn one. And a pro style offense in college against college players isn't a pro offense in the NFL. And with NFL teams starting to using more pistol _ playing in a pro style offense in college doesn't carry as much weight as it's made out to have... And that's substance as well. It's all opinions no matter who it comes from because we won't know what these kids can do until they hit the NFL field. But I'll take your opinion about Teddy before I pay attention to some of those names you're dropping. And I don't compare Johnny to Russell. I compare him to Vick _ Andy Reid's Fresh Out Of Jail Version Of Mike Vick.
Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless talk Manziel in a car ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=371oAqTH2ag
Those guys are out of their minds. Wouldn't mind any of the QB's outside Bortles, but please... this was embarrassing to watch..
Didn't even bother to listen, Skip Bayless is a complete moron He was pimping the Golden Calf of Bristol too
Yea it was terrible; just goes to show you how media hypes up certain people. This qb class is looking like the one in 2011
HAHAHA if you guys haven't seen the Jerry Seinfeld series you should it's what this is based off i believe. I love Colin, lol. You can just tell he's a cool guy as opposed to skip. i like that he just let skip talk, that could've gotten dirty if he tried harder to knock some sense into him.
i was hoping coachbadlee would come out and say he doesnt like teddy bridgewater.. him saying hes not feeling johnny pretty much guarantees JFF surefire HOFer.. if theres someone that who is habitually wrong its badlee..
