Weinke was not a good NFL QB.

But, that does not take away from him being able to have an opinion on a QB.

He's an accomplished athlete... 2nd round pick of the Blue Jays, Heisman winner, 4th round pick of the Panthers..

You have to take what anybody says with a grain of salt at this point.

I posted it because it's relevant to Teddy Bridgewater. And we are in a Teddy Bridgewater thread.

    1. HA!
    2. He did, you don't know what you are talking about.
    3. Yes, I'm sure he's a monster QB, so good in fact that at no point did they consider benching Eli who made Schaub look good last year.

    1. Pay attention to the games
    2. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...perior-arm-talent-and-natural-passer-to-luck/

Here he also said Mike Glennon was ahead of RG3 as a QUARTERBACK (which is also true)
    http://profootballzone.com/nfl/greg-cosell-mike-glennon-along-rg3/

    3. They are not benching a qb who won 2 SBs, for a rookie, especially when the Giants o-line was just plain bad

    1. You really think that Schaub should get another chance starting after this year?

    2. “Luck was not a special passer based on film study,” wrote Cosell. “He is not the same kind of arm talent as Matthew Stafford or Cam Newton"

    3. If he was some great QB prospect they would. Eli was trash this season, if they had a great QB behind him and kept running him out there because his team won him a couple SB's in the past then they all need to be fired.

    1. Me?? No, not after seeing too many big plays go in the opposing teams direction, however I don't watch and study film to say that BOB shouldn't

    2. Luck is a great QB, no he does not have the arm talent of Stafford of Newton, he has progressewd though

    3. No, wouldn't matter if he was Luck. Eli is the franchise qb there, he wouldn't have been benched for nobody

Fair enough. I accept that you are a Teddy fanatic who has firmly buried your head in the sand so there's really no point in continuing this.

Why not? He may not be the answer, but he's still better than half the QBs in the league, and I fault Kubiak as much as I fault Schaub for this season's offensive woes. I'd like to see what O'Brien can do with him before I write him off completely. Plus, if we let him play out this year of his contract, we can cut him next year and get the full $14.5 mil in cap relief (which will likely all go towards extending JJ Watt).

If O'Brien can fix Schaub imagine what he can do with a decent QB. I say let's start out with a Decent QB.

Good point. But I just can't see McNair keeping Schaub after he publicly benched him. I can see them giving Case a chance to compete for the job though.

But as of now we do have QBs on the roster so drafting one may not be a top priority especially if they don't want to take a QB out of this draft.

But you only get $4 mil in cap relief if you release him, and you're basically forced to draft a QB with the #1 pick, even if there's a better player on the board, at a different position; like perhaps Clowney.

You'Re convinced Schaub is beyond redemption? Even with a new coaching regime?

I think Schaub COULD be fixed, I am afraid of the decision making though.

and Lets face it, he has a noodle for an arm...

Texans will be hit with a 10.5 million cap hit by releasing him prior to june 1.

If they release him after june 1:

3 million cap hit in 2014
7.5 million cap hit in 2015

    No he can't.

He's 33 years old, no arm strength, very poor pocket awareness, slower than molasses, needs everything to go right to succeed, etc...

He's done. Will probably catch on as a backup somewhere.

Okay, all fair points. So let's say we cut him. Are folks okay with not using the #1 pick on a QB? I want to take the best player #1, not the best QB.

It's hard to say who is the "best player" in the draft.

Players often do not live up to expectations, and sometimes players exceed expectations.

Bridgewater is the best fit for the team. If we do not want a slow rebuild... Draft the stud QB and never look back. We are in a weak division, so I think Teddy can help us recapture that AFC South title.

All the pieces are in place

    1. Johnson
    2. Hopkins
    3. Foster (if he returns 100%)
    4. Daniels
    5. Solid o-line

Best defense is a great offense, keeps our d fresh on the bench so Watt and the boys can do work when on the field

    1) Johnson - agree
    2) Hopkins - agree
    3) Foster - We'll see if he's retained. Texans might make him a cap casualty because of his health and off the field issues.
    4) Daniels - I'm quite certain he will be cut.
    5) Solid o-line - We need a LG and RT. I believe we have an in house solution for LG with Quessenberry. We'll see about RT. I would love to draft a Tackle in the 2nd or 3rd.
