I "claimed" that DE's are the second highest paid players behind QB's, you looked into your crystal ball and said "not for long". Try to keep up.
even if clowney graded out better than peppers, no one would pay the price. it's just not worth it. today's NFL boldly favors the offense. So you want to build up your defense through LB's and a good secondary. And then fill it out with some pass rushers. a good pass rush with mediocre LB's & secondary is futile. the whole mantra that a good pass rush will make a secondary better is out dated.
Yea... That's the same thing people said last year about Patterson and Hopkins. And Jenkins and Fiedorowicz or 6-6 and 6-7 and faster. And Jenkins has just as many TDs as those guys with less receptions. And Jenkins is just as refined but he did more blocking this year so his numbers don't show it. But we'll see how they turn out in the pros.
most teams in our position are looking for a great DE, we have one already.. the best in the game actually..
It's already happening... Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Mike Wallace, Vincent Jackson are good examples of how the NFL is changing. Next up: AJ Green, Jimmy Graham, Julio Jones...
I think you should build up the defensive line. That's the problem with the Texans, they only have one guy on the D line that has to be doubled. Getting pressure on the QB will help cover the secondary. But we still need a corner back though. And a safety.
Good point. JJ Watt certainly is the best, unfortunately he's pretty much the Texans' entire pass rush because there isn't any talent next to him on that line. When we look at Clowney it's as a pass rushing OLB. With Clowney and Watt, the Texans could have one of the best pass rushing tandems in NFL history.
Completely different level of tight end, but there is a guy that Mike Mayock was talking up at the East-West Shrine game named Larry Webster. Former basketball player playing DE for Bloomsburg (wherever the hell that is). 2 years of football as a DE. Mayock was saying teams are all talking about moving him to TE. When Mayock mentioned it, I started paying close attention and the guy really does move really well - as well as the elite-type TE prospects. Probably needs to add a few pounds, but he could be an interesting sleeper mid/late round to switch to TE and develop.
Predict the future? Huh??? I'm giving you facts... Players who have already agreed on recent contract extensions. Let me elaborate further: Calvin Johnson - $113,450,000, 49 million guaranteed Larry Fitzgerald - $113,000,000, 27 million guaranteed Mike Wallace - $60,000,000, 27 million guaranteed Vincent Jackson - $55,555,555, 26 million guaranteed Let's compare these #'s to a contract that you LOVE to throw around: Mario Williams - $96,000,000, 25 million guaranteed Sooooo.. Ok..... Take a deep breath and try to interpret the information that I generously provided you with. Don't forget to breathe... Enough said, Case closed, End of Story.
hence why i said "NOT FOR LONG"... and your rebuttal was calling me "Miss Cleo"... lol, you have the mind of a brick.
According to Bobby.. Mario is the greatest thing out there... Has he played in a playoff game? lololol, um no.
You listed a couple contracts, I showed you the bigger picture. 2 WR's had a cap hit over over 10 mil a year this year, 5 DE's had a cap hit over 10 mil. I honestly don't know why I even bother with you, it's like talking to a 6 year old.
I showed you the way things actually are, you responded with a prediction about the future...hence why I called you miss Cleo.
ugh.. i feel the same way about you. except, not the 6 year old part. it's more like arguing with a stubborn mule. proving you wrong isn't even fun anymore. i won't respond to your drivel until the draft is over and i can rub in your face that texans drafted Bridgewater... Until then... Try to be nice to your dog.. Poor guy....
You had me at former basketball player... I've never heard of him either but I see he has size and speed. Sounds like a good prospect.
