Eli Manning has 2 superbowls and has come up clutch in key moments Ifs are a question of possibilities not facts
So was Flacco... So what. Vick got Atlanta to the NFC conference championship by himself with only Crumpler to throw to. He was also one of the few to get his team into the playoffs and go into Green Bay and beat Farve... Vick carried his team... But look at Eli when they ask him to do more than what he's capable of. And Brees wasn't winning playoff games in San Diego and he had LT and Gates. Funny how you dog out Vick and make it seem like he was garbage in Atlanta but you brought up Brees like he was a king in San Diego....
See this I would be okay with. McCown is light years better than Schaub. The thing is why can't we do both. Sign McCown and draft his replacement now. It's not like we are going to the super bowl next year. In spite of what McNair may think this team has a lot of holes to fill.If we make all the right moves we are at least 2 years away from being a real contender. And more likely 3. Who are we using at QB then? An old McCown. Why not draft Bridgewater and sign McCown. We are set at QB then. From there we can rebuild or retweak whatever you want to call it. QB is the hardest position to fill and I know you don't believe this but QB's like Bridgewater do not come around often. Who are we going to get next year Winston, Mariota. McCown will insure we win more than enough games to keep us out of the top five or probably even the top ten. Those two guys or top five picks and IMO are not as good as Bridgewater. Yeah I know you disagree. But you at least agree Bridgewater is okay. Let's say he is better than Okay. Let's say he is as good as Mariota and Winston. Are you on board with drafting him then?
Eli and Flacco made big time throws through the air to win games Vick was just a gamer. Impossible to scheme around be cause of his pure raw talent Vick wasn't garbage, he was just very very very raw and played like it majority of his career. Eli is turnover machine but he turns to clutchness whhen needed Brees was playing Marty ball in San Diego, means run run and more run he was just coming into his own there
OMR knows his stuff. Mariota and Jameis have no where near the polish that Bridgewater has. No where near the qb, rather get Bridgewater this year than chance on either of those two next year
So why not sign McCown and either trade down and get more picks are just use the #1 pick on the best player available (Clowney or Watkins) instead of spending it on a guy who probably won't touch the field. We may not win the super bowl or even make the playoffs but going that route may give us more of a chance. Famous Jamies, Marcus Mariota, Hundley, Driskel, and Hogan. Hundley and Hogan are my favorite pro prospects out that group and Braxton Miller might jump up and surprise some people as well if he puts the work in. There will be an opportunity to draft a QB next year. Or they could draft Jimmy this year in a later round (if he doesn't get drafted early). But they could go your route. Bob McNair has already said they wasn't going to throw a rookie out there. So they could draft a QB with the #1 pick and make him wait. But if Clowney puts up ridiculous #'s _ I don't see them passing up on him to draft a QB who they may not feel can play day one.
What I have seen in this thread are people who see tds, scrambles and throws and assume that ole Johnny doing the right thing. Fact of matter is Manziel is not even disciplined in the spread offense that they ran at A&M. Would be an unmitigated disaster to put him in a BOB offense.
Just the same, Vick accomplished more with less. You just don't like the way he did it. And many say some of Eli's and Flacco's throws were more luck than they were clutch. I'm leaning more with luck because both played 16 games this past year and was never clutch when their teams needed them to be. And Brees can't throw outside. I bet they turn the air off when they play in the super dome so his balls won't flutter. If it wasn't for Rob Ryan they wouldn't have got by Philly this year. But you just keep on making excuses for those "GREAT" QBs...
you have opinion speculation at best Fact of the matter Joe Flacco had 1140 yds, 57% completion percentage, 11 tds, 0 ints Eli Manning threw for 1219, 9 tds, 1 int and 65% completion percentage in 2011 and 854 yds, 6 tds, 1 int and 60% percent
I'm not for drafting a QB in the 1st round this year but if they do I believe it should be Johnny. He does remind me more of Vick than anyone else with a MUCH BETTER work ethic. Teddy is more polished and there's no doubt about that... But you can't teach elite play making ability and that's what Johnny has.
Their team's needed it this year and they wasn't. But I guess this past season doesn't count for you when it comes to them. Brees couldn't even win his division. Cam won it with his college style offense and old as dirt Steve Smith.
This. Johnny's work ethic gets lost in all the hoopla that surrounds him. But get to his core . This kid works with QB guru in the off season and everytime you listen to manziel talk all he's talking about is getting better fundamentally and getting better as a QB. That was obvious this year. If BOB can get a chance to coach him up as well lookout.
Might get Johnny in third "Elite play making"????? Whenever people say that I automatically assume they are nothing more than fans who don't know the intricacies of the sport
A third round talent? Pretty much every professional talent evaluator doesn't have Johnny lasting past the 4th pick. Two years ago a similar QB wasn't taken until the third round. He's playing next week for a championship. So...when I read your analysis I check my calendar because I swear I had warped back to 1997.
