I had high hopes for him last year, there were games where he looked like a stud (and others where he looked like he didnt belong in the NBA). This injury seems pretty serious and he's a restricted free agent this summer. Do you think we'll throw any money at him? He's still SO young.

I traded him to OKC for Nick Collison in 2k so looks like he won't be here for much longer.

I don't see any reason why we shouldn't resign him. He gives a really solid 10 minutes a night, by grabbing boards and dunking the **** outta the ball.

I'd give him 2-3 mil a year for 3 years.

I mean 2-3 over 3 years, not a year, my bad.

I hope not. We need players we can rely on to actually play. A guy this young having chronic knee problems should be a sign that maybe the Rockets need to find someone else.

Next to Dwight, all he needs to do is body up his man and fight for the rebound. Blocks are a lot of fun, but one of my biggest knocks on TJones is the poor boxing out. Dude truly is a mini Dwight in that they both rely heavily on their athleticism to make plays.

Gawd, I need Asik back in my life

    If Asik gets traded, yes.

he won't be back. He has the injury-prone label now.

No veteran big guy signs a multi-year deal for that little money. He'll either sign a multi-year deal worth much more per year or he'll sign a 1 year deal and hope that a rotation spot shakes loose so he can put up decent enough numbers to get some security in a large multi-year deal.

IMO, I don't see him in our long term plans unless our roster is completely depleted after a blockbuster trade.

I meant veteran for contract purposes, as in anyone who has played in the nba for a season or more. The only big guys who would sign the contract suggested would be 2nd rounders and undrafted rookies.

Also, this is his 3rd season.

As a former 'dog, it pains me to say... see ya. He doesn't seem to be correcting the weaknesses at all and his inability to stay of the court (even when healthy) are major problems. But add to that his brittleness? There have to be better alternatives...

He's not that important of a player. Flip him for an asset if you can, resign him if he only gets the min (as a big man who can make a layup and grab a few boards, this is unlikely to happen), whatever. Play it by ear.

The question is: is he a part of this team, this year?

Depends on what player moves are made (if any) regarding Jones or Dmo.
